The biggest Avenger complaint in the MCU is highlighted in fight Loki (Tom Hiddleston), they've become the premier superhero team in the franchise. But despite being the MCU's go-to protectors, they seem to go missing during a lot of smaller, but still dangerous situations.

Over the course of 14 years, the MCU has only had four Avengers films. The titular team assembled for the first time in Avengers: Endgame. In-between the Avengers' adventures, however, were countless other incidents — most of them would've been easily resolved had Earth's Mightiest Heroes got involved.

Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case. This particular issue has been highlighted by the new WandaVision. But, considering her magic capabilities coupled with her knowledge about the multiverse, she's perfect for the mission. But, arguably, it would also be better for Doctor Strange if he enlists the help of the other Avengers who are still in the MCU.

Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner as holograms in Shang-Chi post-credit scene

After the Infinity Saga, the status of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as a team is actually a bit unclear. In fact, there hasn't been any official word as to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings established that there's some sort of communication among active players in the franchise. Wong (Benedict Wong) had a meeting with both Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) about the power of the Ten Rings. But, Cumberbatch recently revealed that Doctor Strange, specifically, isn't an Avenger. So Wong's ties to other heroes don't mean that they're all part of an official team. So, at least, in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there's an in-universe justification as to why other heroes won't be involved.

Unless Marvel Studios actually gives an explicit explanation why the Avengers are nowhere to be found, it's safe to say that fans would always ask where they are every single time there's an incident in the MCU. The fact that this is addressed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness implies that this will be the case in the future. At the very least, Marvel Studios might be more conscious about providing information about what the other heroes are doing during their other projects.
