As the previous MCU installments like Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania heralded the arrival of Kang the Conqueror as the Multiverse Saga's arch-villain.
While Robert Downey Jr.'s casting has been met with some trepidation, Kang's replacement in the narrative has been met with general approval. Doctor Doom is, after all, one of Marvel's most beloved villains, and giving him more space to establish himself ahead of Avengers: Secret Wars is a wise move. In this regard, it allows Doom more time to gather the power needed to face the dizzying combined might of the superheroes established in the Multiverse Saga - and RDJ may have revealed exactly how he'll do this.

Avengers: Doomsday announced that it began production with a 5-hour live stream in March. This live stream confirmed 25 actors due to star in Avengers: Doomsday alongside Robert Downey Jr. Since then, RDJ has kept fans posted on proceedings, with a notable post to his Instagram revealing his "Doom workstation essentials." Doom #1 is written by Jonathan Hickman, who also penned the 2015 Secret Wars run that will heavily inspire Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.
Doom #1, unsurprisingly, centers on Doom as more of a heroic figure going up against the comic's arch-villain, Galactus. To acquire the power needed to fell the immensely powerful cosmic entity, Doom is imbued with the combined might of the super soldier serum and the powers of a celestial. While the comic also delves into Doom and the deeper aspects of his characterization, it's hard to discount the possibility that RDJ is pointing at this specific MO for Doom's acquisition of immense power, especially as it leans into one early Multiverse Saga movie.
The MCU's Current Setup After Eternals Means Giving Doctor Doom The Same Power Upgrade Would Make Sense
Eternals Elaborated On The Godlike Celestials
The the MCU's most powerful cosmic entities, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 establishing them as "small "g"" gods. The Celestials finally took center stage, however, in 2021's Eternals, where it was revealed that the cosmic gods seed new Celestials into planets before a cataclysmic "emergence" births them into the universe and consequently destroys the planet into which they were seeded.
It stands to reason that Doom's brilliant mind would lead him to develop a similar process to those that gave incredible powers to the likes of Hulk and Sentry, while additionally incorporating the blood of a nascent Celestial to gain unparalleled power.
With no multiple MCU super soldiers, the Incredible Hulk, and possibly the Sentry. It stands to reason that Doom's brilliant mind would lead him to develop a similar process to those that gave incredible powers to the likes of Hulk and Sentry, while additionally incorporating the blood of a nascent Celestial to gain unparalleled power.
Doctor Doom Getting The Comic Power Upgrade Could Also Help The Story Of Avengers: Secret Wars
Avengers: Secret Wars Can Skip Introducing Beyonders
Doom taking this approach wouldn't only help to tie into previous MCU installments, but also set up Avengers: Secret Wars in a satisfying way. The Secret Wars comics depict Doom at his most powerful (Doom#1 notwithstanding) as God Emperor Doom, the ruler of Battleworld. He acquires this power from the godlike Beyonders, near-omnipotent entities that dwell outside the multiverse, after building a makeshift bomb out of Molecule Men variants and killing them with it.

Avengers: Secret Wars Is Inspired By 2 Major Marvel Comics, & Here Are The 8 Best Moments From Them We Need To See In The MCU
The Russo brothers have revealed more about Avengers: Secret Wars's comic inspiration, which has us excited to see these major events in the MCU.
Given that the Multiverse Saga is yet to introduce the Beyonders or Molecule Men, fans have been wondering whether Avengers: Secret Wars will faithfully adapt this facet of the comics. Having Doom acquire his powers from the Celestials instead sidesteps this necessity, allowing Doom to still become a godlike entity via the already-established godhood of Celestials. This would help to streamline the MCU's Multiverse Saga story, and, with RDJ's hint, could be the exact direction that Avengers: Doomsday is taking.
