Doc Episode 4 Revealed That Both Amy & Michael Were At Fault For Danny's Death
Amy & Michael Both Could Have Done Things Differently
Doc episode 4 explains that Amy and Michael were both somewhat at fault for their son's death. On the last morning of Danny's life, Amy asked Michael to chaperone their son's school field trip to a museum instead of her. Amy wanted to consult with a patient on a sensitive matter at the hospital, so she asked her husband to go in her place, showing Amy's dedication to her work even before her tragedy. Michael agrees to take his wife's place, and the end of the outing plays out exactly what happened when the father of two took over.

New Medical Drama Viewership Leaps More Than 600% Just Days After Its Premiere Episode
A new medical drama has leaped in viewership, showing an increase of more than 600%, just days after making its premiere on network television.
"One Small Step" reveals how Danny showed signs of illness when arriving at the museum that morning. The child had a heart condition, and his death happened because this condition was more serious than anyone thought. Flashbacks to the tragic event reveal that Danny threw up the morning that he died, but he told his dad it was car sickness and all the pancakes that he ate. Rather than thoroughly evaluating his child's condition, Michael lets Danny run off without checking on him so that he can have fun with his friends.
Amy Took Danny's Death Much Harder Because She's A Doctor
Amy Might Have Noticed Something Was Off About Danny
The fourth outing of Doc shows how Danny's death hit Amy wosre than Michael, because Amy ultimately allowed the tragedy to end her marriage. Amy probably took her son's death harder because she is a practicing physician; she probably would have thought about checking her son's pulse, so she blamed Michael for not doing so. Dr. Michael Hamda is also licensed, but Amy works more closely with patients, whereas her ex-husband spends more time with the board as the hospital's chief medical officer.
While Michael attempted to resuscitate Danny, he was unsuccessful, and he failed to notice signs Amy would have intuitively caught.
Michael is doubtlessly a skilled doctor, but Doc establishes that Amy is one of the best at internal medicine. She has sharp medical instincts that could have saved her son's life. Therefore, it was painful for Amy not to have been able to help him. There's a chance that, despite blaming her husband for not taking better care of their son, Amy blames herself for Danny's death, and accusing her husband is a symptom of that. While Michael attempted to resuscitate Danny, he was unsuccessful, and he failed to notice signs Amy would have intuitively caught.
Is There Any Hope For Amy & Michael To Get Back Together?
Chances Are Slim But Not Zero
In episode 4, Amy and Michael begin to reconcile their biggest loss, causing Doc's audience to consider whether there's hope for the parents to rekindle their romance. While they had been divorced for years leading up to her memory loss, Amy re the couple's golden years like they were yesterday. Not recalling her divorce, Amy expected to continue her marriage despite having pushed her husband away before her brain injury. Since then, Michael and Amy built very separate lives apart from one another. However, Amy's accident has caused her to look at her circumstances differently.
Dr. Jake Heller (Jon-Michael Ecker) isn't stopping Amy and Michael from rekindling their marriage, and Amy still doesn't know that she has been dating the internal medicine chief resident for five months. However, Michael has considerable obstacles to reuniting with Katie (Charlotte Fountain-Jardim) and Danny's mother. Michael remarried after his wife left him, and the CMO is now again an expecting father. While Amy and Michael made a breakthrough at the end of Doc episode 4, it's unlikely that Michael will leave his pregnant wife for Amy despite potentially having that desire, especially after her reconciliation.
Doc airs on Fox on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET.
