Captain America: Brave New World star Danny Ramirez addressed how his character Joaquin Torres/Falcon would react if given the opportunity to take the super soldier serum. Ramirez ed the Marvel Cinematic Universe with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in 2021, succeeding Anthony Mackie as the Falcon when he became Captain America. He then costarred with Mackie in Captain America: Brave New World, along with Harrison Ford, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, and Giancarlo Esposito.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Ramirez revealed that he believes Joaquin would take the serum if given the chance, something Sam refused to do. The actor stated:

I think he'd take it, and this is where Sam's maturity is the difference. Because for him to get to that conclusion is not a light conclusion for Sam. He said it in the film, he's like, "I should have taken the thing." So, it's an ongoing conversation, and he understands the full picture. He's been in so many of these situations, and it's taken him to this moment to be like, "You know what? I'm not going to do it."

But someone like Joaquin, that's seen most of these Avengers battles through the news on his TV somewhere, and has been influenced from the perspective of the audience, as well, I think he, in the same way as to why we find the Super Soldier Serum fascinating in the first place, he would probably be like, "You know what, yeah, that's the only way I could compete in this way", without understanding the morality around it.

Whether it's a mistake or not, Joaquin would probably say yes to it. And then the part that me, as Danny looking at Joaquin, I wouldn't be that scared, because obviously the Super Soldier Serum accentuates qualities that you have. I do think he's of a clearer heart and mind and soul than someone like even Walker, and has a different yearning than like Bucky, although there's a similarity in that from the first time we ever meet Bucky, that he thinks he's the guy. He wants to be the guy, and the dynamic is kind of flip flopped, and then there's a little jealousy that build up around him not being the guy.

So, yes, there's parallels to that, but I think, yeah, Joaquin would take that.

Ramirez then clarified that Joaquin would make the choice to take the serum "out of immaturity and not understanding the full picture." However, he noted that his character would not be immune to the same hubris that befalls most people who take the serum—not everyone is Steve Rogers or Isaiah Bradley. The actor also pointed out that Joaquin's brush with death might push him further towards making the choice to take the serum, stating: "If he's doing that now, I could only imagine how invincible he [would feel] then."

What Danny Ramirez's Comments About Falcon Taking The Super Soldier Serum Mean

Joaquin is significantly less experienced as a superhero than Sam—he's only just become an Avenger—which means he doesn't have the perspective that the new Captain America does. Sure, the super soldier serum would grant him powers, but there's a chance it could turn him into another John Walker/US Agent. Sam sees this possibility and makes the difficult decision to carry on as Captain America without any superhuman abilities because he's seen how this can go wrong firsthand.

Joaquin does know what happened with US Agent, but as Ramirez noted, there is an arrogance and eagerness to please that could lead him to take the serum. The actor's thoughtful answer seems to demonstrate a thorough understanding of Joaquin and his motivations.

Our Take On Danny Ramirez's Comments About Falcon Taking The Super Soldier Serum

While Sam's choice to not take the serum has been presented as morally correct, Ramirez believing Joaquin would do it isn't automatically an indicator that he's a bad person or an insincere hero. Being thrown into life-or-death situations would be enough for many to cave and seek out power.

Thus far, Joaquin's MCU journey has not presented him with the option to become a super soldier, which makes it even more interesting that Ramirez knows how the hero would respond given the chance. Captain America: Brave New World set Joaquin up for a more substantial arc—one that might cause him to face this very dilemma.
