Disney+ is relatively new, having launched in November of 2019, but already has over 80 million subscribers, far suring HBO Max and narrowing the distance to Netflix quickly. This was done in just over a year. Few doubted that Star Wars universe, seven series from Marvel, as well as new shows based on Turner & Hooch, Monsters Inc, a fourth Night At The Museum film, and much more.

With the momentum of the success of 2020, Disney is more committed than ever to continue growing its streaming service. It will become available in more countries in 2021. New feature films are planned to have a simultaneous launch at theaters and on Disney+, at an extra cost for Premiere Access or later as part of the regular service. This transition to online service will likely continue with more and more movie studios, not simply as a solution for the pandemic, but rather as a standard option.
