Marvel Studios' Multiverse Saga is going to run a bit longer than planned, as several Marvel Cinematic Universe movies in Phases 5 and 6 have gotten new dates. Phase 5 finally kicked off this year as the MCU is getting deeper into the concept of the multiverse and variants. With several movies and shows currently fleshing out The Multiverse Saga, things are now starting to look a lot different for Marvel Studios' current plans.
Per a Disney scheduling update, Captain America: Brave New World has been pushed from May 3, 2024 to July 24. Thunderbolts changed from July 26, 2024, to December 20, 2024. The Phase 6 projects that have been affected are the MCU's Fantastic Four reboot, moving from February 14, 2025, to May 2; Blade, pushed from September 6, 2024 to February 14, 2025; and the next two Avengers movies. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is delayed to May 1, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars is now slated for May 7, 2027. Conversely, Deadpool 3 will come out five months earlier than expected, moving from November 8, 2024, to May 3.

MCU Scheduling Changes Aren't A Bad Thing
While Disney has announced several schedule changes simultaneously, there's likely no reason for concern. Phase 4 received pushback for the amount of content that was released over a short period of time, giving less breathing space for each MCU film and show in their release schedule. These delays, though relatively minor, may help Marvel projects feel less packed together.
Also, given the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, and a potential SAG-AFTRA strike, it's wise to let the next batch of films have extra time in production, especially if scripts aren't finished. When agreements are eventually made, Marvel Studios will want each project to get the time it needs. It remains to be seen if any MCU shows in Phases 5 and 6 will have their premiere windows shuffled around too.
Hopefully, Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios may elaborate more in the coming months on why they changed several release dates for some of their biggest films of all time. With San Diego Comic-Con taking place next month, some answers may be given during interviews that are bound to happen during the promotion of their remaining 2023 projects. But for now, time will tell if the delays will benefit all of these MCU films as Marvel Studios goes forward with The Multiverse Saga.
