Disney Lorcana: Reign Of Jafar is the newest set to arrive in the trading card game. As usual, Lorcana maker Ravensburger is offering up various accessories, pre-made decks, and box sets to coincide with the release. Illumineer's Troves have become a must-have item for Disney Lorcana fans, and the one for Reign of Jafar continues the tradition of offering collectible and practical items for enriching the TCG, all while including multiple booster packs filled with new cards.
Much like Ursula's Return before it, Reign of Jafar puts an emphasis on rallying against an iconic Disney villain. It also means there's an Illumineer's Quest called Palace Heist releasing as a kind of capstone to the past year of Disney Lorcana, offering a PvE kind of gameplay and story. Along with the Illumineer's Quest, there are two Starter Decks available, playmats, card sleeves, and various accessories. Of course, no Lorcana set would be complete without a new Illumineer's Trove.

What's In The Reign Of Jafar Illumineer's Trove
Booster Packs, Card Dividers, & More
The Illumineer's Trove for Reign Of Jafar has a full-art box of cardboard that holds all the items inside - and can also function as a nice way to store your new cards (it looks great on a shelf as well). This time around, the characters featured on the Illumineer's Trove box are Mulan, Minnie Mouse, Rapunzel, and Jafar. These are also the characters displayed on the booster packs. The top of the box features golden scarab beetles from Aladdin swarming around the Disney Lorcana logo - a nice touch for a set hailed as the Reign Of Jafar.

Disney Lorcana: Fabled - Release Date, Pre-Release, Cards, & Set Details
Everything to know about Disney Lorcana’s ninth set, Fabled, including card reprints, set rotation, new rarities, and when it all releases.
The Disney Lorcana: Reign Of Jafar Illumineer's Trove contains the following items:
- 6 card dividers featuring characters like Tiana, Iago, and Jiminy Cricket
- 8 booster packs (each with 12 randomized cards inside)
- 6 damange counter dice
- 1 Lore counter featuring Jafar
- 1 storage box to hold everything
For people who may have not purchased an Illumineer's Trove before, the card dividers feature characters and are separated by Ink type. This makes storing cards much easier and functions well within the storage box once all the booster packs are open and you're looking to organize your cards. The dice are high-quality, and the Lore counter is consistently a great addition for Lorcana fans who may not have one yet - or who may only be relying on tokens from a Starter Deck box or similar.
Reign Of Jafar Illumineer's Trove Card Pulls & Highlights
Glimmers of Tiana, Iago, & Mulan Stand Out
Of course, the biggest draw to any Illumineer's Trove is arguably the booster packs inside. As with previous sets, there are six booster packs included here, each containing 12 cards apiece. The cards inside are randomized, so it all comes down to luck of the draw. Illumineer's Troves can be a great way to gather booster packs in bulk while getting additional items to help with storage and organization. Although Aladdin's villain is the primary focus here, the new cards in the Reign Of Jafar set are from a wide selection of Disney IPs.
Disney Lorcana has consistently done a great job of keeping the TCG feeling fresh and introducing new mechanics that don't totally make previous ones moot, and as a set, Reign Of Jafar is no different. As well as a bunch of new chase cards, there are additions that add to the current Disney Lorcana meta in interesting ways. There are more dual-Ink cards to choose from (including ones with glimmers of Mulan, Bruno Madrigal, and Mushu), but there are also cards that make using Songs a focus (like Tiana, Natural Talent).

Everything We Know About Disney Lorcana: Whispers In The Well & Ethereral Glimmers
Disney Lorcana has revealed its 10th set to be called Whispers in the Well, which will introduce a new type of glimmer to the game and even Gargoyles.
There are also plenty of new cards with great artwork. The Enchanteds still have some of the best art - "It Means No Worries" is my personal favorite - but there are a lot of less-rare cards to ire. "Lumiere - Fired Up" and "Minnie Mouse - Daring Defender" show classic characters in a fresh light, and I'm always happy to see DuckTales characters like "Gyro Gearloose - Eccentric Inventor" appear in Disney Lorcana.
How Reign Of Jafar's Trove Compared To Previous Illumineer's Troves
Practical & Collectible Items For Lorcana Fans
Since the release of The First Chapter, Disney Lorcana's Illumineer's Troves have become fairly standardized. While I'd still like to see a promo card included, and the booklets return, there's a tried-and-true formula at work here. An Illumineer's Trove is a great item to get when starting out a Lorcana collection, but it's also something longtime fans enjoy grabbing. The storage boxes continue to be an excellent way to keep specific cards and sets separated, and the items within remain high-quality.
I still think Illumineer's Troves make a better item for collectors, but the Lore counter and dice are nice additions for those who lean more competitive - especially if you don't have items like this already. Compared to previous Illumineer's Troves, the one for Reign Of Jafar doesn't disappoint, but it also doesn't do anything new. Longtime fans should know exactly what to expect when they open it up.
Reign Of Jafar is an excellent Disney Lorcana set, and the Illumineer's Trove is an excellent way to start collecting cards from the latest expansion.
The real judgment comes down to how Reign Of Jafar, as a set, compares to previous ones in Disney Lorcana. In of gameplay, the latest cards allow for some new strategies (I'm pretty fond of using the Amber/Amethyst Starter Deck, which uses Song strategies to rack up Lore, for example), and it's great to see more dual-Ink cards being added. There may not be anything earth-shattering in here, but it's nice to see the TCG is always moving forward.
In of artwork, that's always been a highlight of Disney Lorcana, and Reign Of Jafar is no different. The overall artistic tone here is a bit darker, and while I miss the more bright and tropical aesthetic of sets like Archazia's Island or Shimmering Skies, the cards in Reign Of Jafar fit the current arc well. Reign Of Jafar is an excellent Disney Lorcana set, and the Illumineer's Trove is an excellent way to start collecting cards from the latest expansion.
