A closed beta test for Diablo 4 is currently underway, and unfortunately, some of its testers are breaking NDAs and leaking gameplay footage of the anticipated title online. The action RPG dungeon crawling franchise helped establish a new genre of gaming with its addictive multiplayer combat. It's been more than ten years since the release of Diablo 3. The new mobile game Diablo Immortal saw more than ten million s within its first few months of release, but fans are ready for a proper Diablo sequel.
After years of speculation about its development, Diablo 4 was officially announced during Blizzcon 2019. New trailers and an early look at its open-world gameplay have players excited about the game's release in 2023. However, the game has had its share of problems throughout its development, including leaks. More than forty minutes of Diablo 4 gameplay leaked last month. Still, the game has now moved on to a closed beta that some of its testers are having a hard time keeping secret.
Gameplay footage of Diablo 4's endgame content has been leaked by closed testers breaking NDAs. As reported by GamesRadar (via DualShockers), the closed beta currently available for a small group of lucky players is meant to focus on Diablo 4's post-campaign activities. Blizzard recently stated during June's Microsoft & Bethesda showcase that the developer has big plans for the game's endgame content that should keep players interested in Diablo 4 for years after its release. Fans worried about spoilers should know the leaked footage didn't reveal any major story spoilers for the game. Still, post-campaign abilities and combat have been shown that were not previously seen.
Blizzard Is Having A Hard Time Keeping Diablo 4 Secret
After Blizzard's controversial Diablo 4 delays, it is understandable that people are excited to see what the anticipated sequel has in store for players. Still, releasing gameplay before it's ready to be seen gives fans an incomplete and unfair impression. Developers trusted its Diablo fanbase with exclusive access to its new game. Now that that trust has been broken, the developer may be less inclined to host closed betas for fans in the future.
Early impressions of Diablo 4 have been very positive from both officially released and leaked gameplay. Team 3 at Blizzard seems dedicated to delivering procedurally generated dungeons, improved character building, and PVP gameplay that should make the anticipated sequel very replayable. Public tests are planned for early next year, before Diablo 4's 2023 release date. But if the trend continues, more leaked footage will likely be released between now and then.
