As improve features in Frontiers.

The three episodes, Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy, were meant to be semi-reworked seasonal content drops to close all the gaps in the story before the franchise moves forward. Though the story beats worked well, the content of the first two was lackluster and mixed with unremarkable systems like Revenant's tonics. Luckily, Heresy has helped rebound the franchise's standing, giving the community a sense of hope as it moves into uncharted waters for Destiny.

Destiny 2: Frontiers Still Has Very Little Info From Bungie

We Will Have A New System To Explore Though

Since the initial Destiny 2 Frontiers roap was shown off, Bungie has been silent on more information. This may have been a good thing given the poor reception of the game at the time, but with Heresy bringing back a positive reception and a deadline fast approaching, it may be time to show the future. Especially since all three Episodes have had a common story thread of leaving the Solar System, that seems to point to what Frontiers is about.

What is known is that Destiny 2 is moving to a new model that will have two major paid DLC expansions every year. These expansions will not be as big as what the game has gotten recently, roughly the size of Rise of Iron from Destiny 1. However, it is still one of the best expansions in Destiny history, so there is hope to be had. Secondly, each expansion will have two mini-free updates, roughly the size of the Into The Light update, that will provide new content for all.

When Destiny 2: Frontiers Is Most Likely To Release

Can Frontiers Break The Recent Delay Trend?

The first expansion, codenamed Apollo, was given an initial release date of Summer 2025. Since the episodes are roughly 18 weeks long, that gives Hersey an end date of early June. This would line up well as it would be a year since The Final Shape launched, and starting the summer with a big change could do wonders for Destiny 2. Furthermore, when Bungie discussed Frontiers in 2025 posts, it still referred to the expansion as coming in 2025.

There are two secret chests to find in Destiny 2's newest dungeon and you'll need to be familiar with the mechanics of Sundered Doctrine to find them.

Based on the fact that there have been no updates for or against, the likely outcome is that Apollo will launch on schedule sometime in June. The worst-case scenario is it gets delayed a bit, as most Destiny 2 DLCs have, but since this is expected to be a smaller expansion, any delay would likely be smaller. If this were to happen, the most likely date would be August or September, as anything more could harm the excitement.

There is currently little reason to be worried that Destiny 2's Frontiers will be delayed past its initial release date of Summer 2025.

Overall, it is somewhat weird that the community has received little to no information about Frontiers, but it is not unreasonable. Given the massive change that is expected, Bungie may be keeping information close until the story plays out in Heresy. The real moment of concern would be if Act 3 of Heresy is nearing its halfway or end point and there has still been no information. Regardless, there is currently little reason to be worried that Destiny 2's Frontiers will be delayed past its initial release date of Summer 2025, even if that is not early June.
