Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba took the world by storm when it debuted in 2019, exciting anime fans with its brilliant visuals and exciting action. Having been through four seasons and a movie at this point, Demon Slayer fans have been doing quite well, and with the end of season 4, it was revealed that the final arc would be animated in movie form.

While there's still a lot that's not known about how Demon Slayer will approach its Infinity Castle arc as a series of films, there are some things that can be said definitively, as well as some information from the manga that fans might want to know before buying a ticket. Here's everything that can be factually said about the Infinity Castle movies at this point in time.

6 There Will Be Three Infinity Castle Films

The Final Arc Was Announced as a Trilogy

The first and most important piece of information is that Infinity Castle won't be just a single film, the way Mugen Train was. As the story arc from the manga covers a whopping 65 chapters, almost a third of the entire length of the manga, it was decided that the most efficient way to adapt this much material was as a trilogy of films. The entire trilogy was announced after the conclusion of season 4, which ends with the characters falling into the eponymous Infinity Castle, Muzan's extradimensional base of operations.

It's not clear exactly how the storyline will be divided up into three movies, as the arc represents a continuous series of battles that ultimately lead to the final confrontation with Muzan himself. It seems likely that the films may add some material to make for good cliffhangers between movies, or otherwise change things to give each individual film in the trilogy a sense of resolution. On the other hand, the series has largely been faithful to the manga, with relatively few cases of expansion, so perhaps they'll simply leave fans hanging for a year or more between films.

5 The First Film Is Due Out This Year

The Infinity Castle Trilogy Kicks Off Soon

The trilogy was announced last year, but no release dates were given at the time, so fans had no idea how long they'd have to wait to see the conclusion of the story. However, the first movie, currently titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -- The Movie: Infinity Castle, has now been revealed to be released in Japan on July 18, 2025, while the US and Canada will see a release on September 12, 2025. The film is going to be screened in both dubbed and subtitled forms, allowing fans to choose whichever screening experience they prefer.

Release dates for the other two films in the trilogy have not yet been revealed, which isn't much of a surprise, since the focus will naturally be on the first movie. The studio may be aiming to release a movie once a year for the next few years, which would mean fans can expect the second film in 2026 and the finale in 2027, which is certainly quite some time away. Details about the second movie's release will likely not be available until after the first film has debuted.

4 The Movies Will Be Available to Stream (Eventually)

The Infinity Castle Films Will Stream on Crunchyroll Internationally

It was confirmed by a Sony executive that, following the film's theatrical debut in the US and Canada, the first Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movie will find a streaming home on Crunchyroll. At present, there's some information as to when fans outside the US, Japan, and Canada will be able to see the movie (check here for all countries it will be released in), but the movie's presence on Crunchyroll at least assures fans in smaller markets that they will get to see it eventually. It seems safe to assume that if the first movie is going on Crunchyroll, that the others will end up there sooner or later as well.

Crunchyroll has been the home of Demon Slayer's premieres, in both subbed and dubbed form, since the beginning, so it only makes sense that the movies would land there as well. It's entirely possible that the movies could be on other platforms eventually as well, although no such decisions have yet been made at this stage.

3 Demon Slayer is Taking Piracy Seriously

The Film's Distributors Issued a Bold Warning

In preparation for the debut of the first Infinity Castle movie, Mugen Train saw a rerelease in the US and Japan, accompanied by a special sneak peek at the movie. This sneak peek was, of course, recorded and posted online, but was swiftly taken down by copyright claims. The official X (formerly Twitter) for Demon Slayer weighed in on the issue, reminding fans that secretly recording a film, even in part, is an illegal act and considered to be piracy, which can be punished with hefty fines or even jailtime for the perpetrators.

While it may seem a bit silly to avoid spoilers for the film, given that the manga has been completed for 5 years at this point, the fact of the matter is that a lot of hard work has gone into the production of this movie, and that work should be respected. Fans are strongly recommended not to test their luck by recording anything in the theater, as it will, at the very least, see them expelled from the theater, and could end far worse.

2 Viewers with Motion Sickness Beware

The Film's Visuals May Be Too Much for Some

One thing that not many have considered about the film is that the Infinity Castle, which has appeared in the anime before, has often been featured with long tracking shots as the castle unfolds in space around it. The camera can move quite quickly through these shots, potentially triggering nausea and motion sickness in those prone to it. Given that the entire film will be set inside the castle, one can expect quite a lot of these styles of shots. That's without getting into the ways that the Infinity Castle itself can move, suddenly rotating everything ninety degrees.

While many people may have been able to watch these scenes at home with no problem, watching them on a theatrical screen or an IMAX screen will be a different thing altogether. Fans who know they're susceptible to motion sickness are advised to be cautious when attending screenings, and to be prepared to deal with feelings of vertigo or nausea that may crop up.

1 It's Going to Be a Bloodbath

Many Characters Die in Demon Slayer's Final Battle

It's the grand finale of Demon Slayer, and the final showdown between the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan and his demons, so it's to be expected that some characters might die. However, Demon Slayer pulls no punches when it comes to these final battles, which are absolutely brutal in the manga. The remaining demons are incredibly powerful, with some even wielding Demon Slayer breathing techniques, so the heroes will need every advantage if they're to win. Sacrifice is the name of the game, and anyone could die at any time.

It's difficult to say much more than that while avoiding spoilers, but fans should go into the film prepared to deal with the death of their favorite characters. This brutal and realistic take on a final battle is intense and completely unlike any other shonen manga out there, which is part of what fans have loved so much about Demon Slayer over the years.
