How Deadpool & Wolverine Pulled Off All Their Marvel Movie Cameos

The MCU Movie Avoided Spoilers

There were many rumors about which characters could appear in Deadpool & Wolverine. The movie’s multiverse story and the Deadpool franchise’s origins in the Fox Marvel universe made it possible for several characters from the MCU and past Marvel movies to appear. Due to that, many characters and actors were rumored to be in the movie, but despite some pretty popular rumors, a large portion of them would not pan out.

Marvel tried its best to keep Deadpool & Wolverine’s major surprises a secret until the movie was released. While previous MCU movies teased or revealed their big cameos in trailers, Deadpool & Wolverine mostly kept them under the radar. Marvel used smaller returning characters from the Fox X-Men movies to generate hype for Deadpool & Wolverine, with the biggest trailer reveal being Dafne Keen’s X-23, who was only shown so that the actress could get her wish to go to the movie’s premiere.

It has also been revealed that Marvel used fake leaks to throw off expectations for Deadpool & Wolverine. It is possible that major rumors like the return of original Fox X-Men heroes such as James Marsden's Cyclops, fan-favorite candidate for the MCU's Wolverine Daniel Radcliffe appearing as a Wolverine variant, and Taylor Swift being in the movie were among the fake leaks. In the end, that helped Marvel keep most of the movie's secrets a surprise until release, with Deadpool & Wolverine's cast now celebrating the movie's success in the open.
