A new worked on Star Wars: Squadrons. Only a teaser trailer for the project has been released, but it has Dead Space fans excited for what's to come.
The first Dead Space game originally released back in 2008, following the tale of engineer Isaac Clarke as he fights to save his partner Nicole from nightmarish alien creatures called necromorphs aboard the USG Ishimura. The first game and its sequel, Dead Space 2, received critical acclaim for delivering a genuinely horrifying experience to players. Dead Space 3 traded in these scares for more action-packed gameplay and introduced co-op to the franchise, but wasn't as well-received by fans and critics.
Visceral Games, developer of the Dead Space franchise, was eventually shut down by EA in 2017. This left fans skeptical of any more Dead Space projects seeing the light of day. However, rumors of a Dead Space remake have been prominent in the gaming world recently, and it seems that speculation has been proven correct.
How Dead Space Is Being Brought Back
The EA Play Live event ended with a teaser trailer of the Dead Space project, giving fans a glimpse of main protagonist Isaac Clarke on a ship reminiscent of the USG Ishimura from the original game. The trailer ended with the original Dead Space logo, but didn't reveal whether the game would be a remake or remaster of the original, or a complete reboot of the series. However, EA Motive officially revealed after the event that the project shown was a complete remake of the first Dead Space game.
The team at EA Motive stated that they would be completely remaking the first Dead Space game from the ground up for fans to enjoy. The title will only appear on next-gen consoles and PC, with Creative Director Roman Campos-Oriola telling IGN that it will allow the team to make the immersion of the game "even deeper with a fully interactive experience, from the start screen to the end credits." The remake will improve upon gameplay and the story of the original, while improving the visuals and 3D audio using the Frostbite game engine.
This type of remake for Dead Space is reminiscent of the recent Demon's Souls remake, overhauling the original game to provide a better gaming experience on newer gaming platforms. Going the remake route will allow new players to experience Isaac Clarke's horrific journey for the first time, or invite fans of the series to enjoy the game in an improved state. No release date or official gameplay has been revealed yet, but it seems like the Dead Space remake is in good hands at EA Motive.
