Players eventually must confront a huge collection of Necromorph flesh known as "The Leviathan" in Chapter 6 of Dead Space Remake, using their accumulated weapons and supplies to beat the monstrosity before its toxic air spreads fully across the USG Ishimura. Located in the Food Storage, the Leviathan boss fight thankfully has a Save Station and Store that players can access prior to the boss room itself. Isaac must fight the huge amalgamation within an airlock using zero gravity, making this fight a bit tricky to manage as players must fully utilize unique movement options to avoid the Leviathan's attacks.
The first thing players should do before fighting the Leviathan involves gathering med packs and other supplies, especially ammunition or Stasis packs if the schematics for either were collected in certain chapters. If Isaac is short for credits when trying to buy items at the Store, there are still plenty of ammo drops and med packs floating in the Food Storage airlock that can be collected through Kinesis throughout the boss battle. Plasma Energy perhaps has the most utility in this regard, as it remains one of the cheapest ammo options at the store and ties to the most consistently powerful Plasma Cutter weapon in Dead Space Remake.
Defeating The Leviathan in Dead Space Remake
The Leviathan sits in the circular airlock with three huge tentacles and one covered central mouth, and attacks players with the former at the beginning. Simply moving to avoid the tentacles results in the boss lodging their appendages into the wall behind Issac, giving players the chance to shoot the exposed yellow clusters at their base.
This inflicts large amounts of damage to the Leviathan, destroying a tentacle completely when a cluster gets hit enough times. Players have the opportunity to use their Kinesis Dead Space Remake to shoot red explosive canisters within the room toward these clusters as well when ammo runs low. As seen by content creator FP Good Game, both the Plasma Cutter and the Ripper are incredibly effective against the Leviathan as each weapon have fast shots likely to hit its weak points consistently.
The second phase of the fight commences once players eliminate every cluster on each of the Leviathan's tentacles, indicated by a massive roar let out by the abomination. Players should be careful, as the beast will begin to shoot explosive yellow clusters out of its maw at Isaac rapidly. However, this also exposes its central mouth's weak point for players to start shooting while dodging its projectiles.
Toxic gas eventually clues players into the final phase of the fight, as the Leviathan continues to shoot clusters while regrowing its tentacles back to strike at Isaac in tandem. From this point onward, players have until their oxygen levels or general health in Dead Space Remake run out to deal lethal damage to the creature while still successfully avoiding its assault. For players to beat the Leviathan in Dead Space Remake, they must simply continue to shoot at its vulnerable spots quickly until the vile boss goes limp and is jettisoned into outer space.
