Although the Dead Space remake promises to keep the original story, there are some significant improvements and changes that have been implemented into the game. The title is not an HD remaster of the original but a ground-up remake of the 2008 game that allows players to re-experience Isaac’s journey through the USG Ishimura.
Despite the numerous doubts and worries surrounding the game before its release, the Dead Space remake successfully recreated the iconic horror experience that the original provides. Multiple outlets and numerous players have tried the latest game from EA, and most reviewers are happy with Motive Studio’s work. The remake, considered one of the most anticipated video games of 2023, manages to retain the things that work in the original while improving and adding various features that enhance both gameplay and story.
Dead Space Remake Makes Isaac Clark A Voiced Protagonist
One of the most significant changes in the Dead Space remake is the addition of voice lines for Isaac Clarke, who now gives various quips and comments as he traverses through the infected spaceship. Instead of the stoic and unfeeling act in the original - where he was silent - the remake's Isaac is a lot more emotional and reactive to the numerous horrible events and deaths in the game. Side characters' dialogues are also adjusted to accommodate a talking Isaac, who does not hesitate to talk back and argue. Isaac was of course given a voice in the original Dead Space 2, but this change alters the atmosphere of the original game significantly.
Dead Space Remake Changes The Original Game's Gameplay
The Dead Space remake has added more gore to the already gruesome game by implementing the Peeling System, where players can tear and shatter Necromorphs’ bodies. The new mechanic provides players with various ways to incapacitate their enemies before killing them. Each weapon offers a different gameplay style because some are designed for severing limbs while others are more suitable for peeling. The remake also improves on the original’s Zero-G mechanics by adding thrusters to Isaac’s suit that could make traversing the area less clunky.
The Dead Space remake also greatly improves the original’s graphics and visuals. Motive Studio has added new shaders, geometry, and higher-resolution details that give new life to the USG Ishimura. The remake has also vastly enhanced the lighting in the game, increasing the original's spooky atmosphere.
Another big improvement is the lack of loading screens in the Dead Space remake. In the original game, players can use the Tram System to access new areas and enter the next chapter. However, the remake has combined all sectors in the USG Ishimura and linked them seamlessly with various connecting zones. Other notable changes in the game are the addition of side missions, new music, Story mode, the Intensity Director, updated character models, and a secret ending in the new game plus. The Dead Space remake is a faithful recreation of the original that offers various changes to the iconic horror game, with the biggest changes including better graphics and gameplay and new voice lines for Isaac.
