The DCU Begins With A Bang
Creature Commandos' 100% RT score is no small feat. The highest-rated project to come from the old DCEU also hailed from James Gunn. The John Cena-starring Peacemaker season 1 is Certified Fresh at 93%. Gunn's other DCEU project, The Suicide Squad, also fared well with critics, boasting a 90% score on the platform. However, the DCEU as a whole did not boast great reviews. Of the four final DCEU movies that premiered in 2023, two of them are considered Rotten on the platform. One of those is the final movie in the franchise.

Jason Momoa's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the DCEU's final movie, has a measly 34% score with critics on RT. Those examples help to show the kind of uphill battle the new DCU has ahead as it attempts to course-correct the superhero franchise after the DCEU's issues. Creature Commandos' 100% RT score means that every critic who has a review logged on the platform left a positive score for the series, though that is not to be confused with the project getting perfect scores from every critic. Still, Creature Commandos could not have had a better debut with critics.

James Gunn Once Again Delivers
After the reveal of Creature Commandos' RT score, I can't wait to finally get a look at the new DCU later this week. Gunn's Marvel and DC projects have always hit the right notes for me. The Creature Commandos reviews claim that, once again, the director brings a lot of heart, humor, and action to the animated series. Being introduced to more obscure characters from superhero history and getting to spend some time in the DCU will be exciting, and it seems that Gunn has another hit on his hands with Creature Commandos.
