Warning! This article contains potential spoilers for Future State: Superman vs. Imperious Lex #3.
In a new preview for one of DC Comics' last Superman. While the United Planets are more than happy with writing off Luthor's planet after his recent misdeeds and crimes, the people of Lexor are just as innocent and blameless as Luthor's many victims across the galaxy, and his subsequent tanking of the planet's economy has motivated Superman and Lois Lane to take action before Lex destroys them all in his quest for personal gain and power.
In previous issues of Future State: Superman vs. Imperious Lex - from writer Mark Russell and artist Steve Pugh - Lex Luthor finds a world to rule, away from Superman meddling in his affairs. Under Luthor's leadership, the people of Lexor prospered, though it was soon discovered by Superman that this was because Lex had created an army of rendering Lex's crystals worthless.
Now, Superman and Lois are planning to head back to Lexor in the new preview for Future State: Superman vs. Imperious Lex #3, getting the blessing of the United Planets to inform the people of Lexor that they will be welcomed with open arms due to the planet's economic collapse. However, Lex isn't done fighting, seeing his people as a bargaining chip - or what Lex describes as "my greatest weapon" - to be used against Superman to somehow get his power back, threatening their lives and wellbeing ever further. Here are the preview images and synopsis for the issue:
- FUTURE STATE: SUPERMAN VS. IMPERIOUS LEX #3
- (W) Mark Russell
- (A) Steve Pugh
- (CA) Yanick Paquette
- Could the last days of Lexor be here already? Thanks to Lex Luthor's greed, his adopted home is on the brink of financial and planetary ruin after leaving the United Planets. Now it's up to Superman to act as a champion of these people and show them there's a way through all of this. Will Lex stand down? Or is this the final showdown? The future of Lexor depends on it!
Based on the preview, it does seem as though Lexor is going to be caught in the crossfire of the coming showdown, especially if Lex does the expected thing and refuses to back down to the Man of Steel. However, Lex Luthor could end up surprising Superman and Lois by finally putting Lexor before himself, though that's just speculation (and most likely a long shot). Regardless, readers will just have to pick up the issue when it hits comic book store shelves from DC Comics.
