MCU, and setting the stage for more street-level stories to tell in the universe. The original Daredevil series premiered on Netflix in 2015 and followed Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) as he balanced his life as a lawyer and as Daredevil. The show was abruptly canceled in 2018 - which was a surprise since it had high viewership and was critically acclaimed. Eventually, the series was brought to Disney + as the rights were reverted to Marvel, which then gave the MCU a chance to create Daredevil: Born Again.
Prior to Daredevil: Born Again, there was a commitment to Cox’s version of Daredevil because Murdock popped up in a small role in Spider-Man: No Way Home as both Peter Parker and Happy Hogan’s attorney. He then showed up in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, becoming a romantic interest and friend to Jennifer Walters. Vincent D’Onofrio also returned as Kingpin in Hawkeye and Echo. While it was nice to see them return, Daredevil: Born Again explores the two characters in even more depth than ever before, as the first season was a fantastic continuation of Daredevil and his mythos.

Daredevil: Born Again Critical Reception
Daredevil Continues His Impressive Critical Streak
Prior to the release of Daredevil: Born Again, there was some concern that the new series would fail to live up to the astronomical heights the original show set, particularly with its character work and much darker themes than the MCU usually explores. Despite the hesitation, Daredevil: Born Again ended up being another critical hit for Charlie Cox and his Daredevil, as the series explores the character of Matt Murdock perfectly and sets up a lot to be excited about going forward.
While it doesn't quite reach the same critical praise as season 1 or 3 of Daredevil, Daredevil Born Again sits at 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, a really strong score that could get even better for the second season, where reshoots and restructures won't plague the production this time around. It was a fantastic outing for Matt Murdock, Wilson Fisk, and the rest of the characters as they solidify themselves in the MCU.

Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio stole the show once again as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, as the two characters fought against their darker halves while trying to be better men. Alongside Cox and D'Onofrio, Ayulet Zurer and Margarita Levieva had significant roles in the series as Fisk's wife and Matt Murdock's girlfriend, Heather Glenn. Of course, Karen Page and Foggy Nelson returned, but only for a brief, tragic moment, while Poindexter and Frank Castle got to showcase their killing skills.
Two new masked characters ed Daredevil: Born Again. The first was Hector Ayala, who operated as the vigilante White Tiger, who needed Matt Murdock's help as a lawyer after being accused of murdering a cop. The other was Muse, the serial killer played by Hunter Doohan, who paints his murals with the blood of his victims. Even more characters showed up in the overall Daredevil: Born Again cast as well.

Daredevil: Born Again Ending And Spoilers
Season 1 Ended In An Action-Packed Finale
Every episode of Daredevil: Born Again sees Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk grappling with themselves and their other halves, Daredevil and Kingpin. By the end of the season, they have once again embraced who they are and Daredevil: Born Again season 1 ending culminates in an action-packed hour of television that sees Daredevil team up with the Punisher to take on Fisk's Anti-Vigilante Task Force. It also sees the return of Karen Page, who was notably absent from the series following Foggy's death in episode one.
While New York City fell into chaos following a blackout, Daredevil ended up having to go on the run, while Frank tried his best to dispose of as many cops that were part of the task force as he could, eventually getting caught and locked up for the time being. Fisk declares martial law for the city and completely outlaws vigilantes, something he had been talking about doing since he first began running for Mayor in the premiere episode.
How Daredevil: Born Again Fits Into The MCU & Sets Up Season 2
He Is Building An Army For Season 2
When Daredevil: Born Again was announced, there was a lot of talk about how it would continue the story from the original series or not, and whether that was actually considered canon. After the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, it is safe to assume everything that happened in the Netflix series is canon to the MCU, something that has essentially been confirmed for a while. It has also been confirmed that the new series takes place seven years after the original series concluded, making it further along in the MCU timeline than ever before.
On top of being in the MCU proper, Daredevil: Born Again season 1 left some major dangling narrative threads to be explored in season 2. Most notable is the post-credits scene, which seems to indicate that Frank Castle won't be held for long, laying the foundation for his Special Presentation that has been confirmed. Alongside that, Daredevil is going to attempt to assemble an army to take down Fisk and his task force, which could see the Defenders make their official MCU debut in some capacity in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, especially with Fisk outlawing vigilantes.
