Why Matt Murdock Saves Wilson Fisk Explained

Daredevil Makes A Shocking Decision To End Episode 8

Daredevil: Born Again's latest episode is shocking on many different levels. However, the most surprising moment in episode 8 has to come from its final scene. Daredevil and Kingpin have been foes for four seasons of TV up to this point, counting the three seasons of Netflix's Daredevil and now the first season of Disney+'s Born Again. Matt Murdock had the chance to kill Wilson Fisk in the past, but he chose to yell at him instead, telling Fisk how he beat him and that he would be going to prison for what he had done.

Vincent D'Onofrio revealed the moment filming Netflix's Daredevil series when he knew Charlie Cox was perfect for the role, and he is right to say so.

As such, while it would have been somewhat satisfying if Matt had let Fisk be killed by Bullseye, the hero's past decision shows how he views Kingpin going to prison for his crimes as a bigger punishment than him dying. Another factor that impacts his decision to take a bullet for the Mayor is that Fisk was not responsible for Foggy Nelson's death. While Matt could have seen the whole thing as a way to get justice for his friend's death when the law could not, Fisk did not tell Bullseye to kill him. Someone else did.

Why Bullseye Killed Foggy Nelson - Everything That Was Revealed

Daredevil: Born Again Brings Out The Truth About The Show's Biggest Death

While Wilson Fisk was not the one to have Bullseye kill Foggy Nelson, Matt Murdock found out the person responsible for doing so due to Kingpin's actions. Episode 8 starts with Benjamin Poindexter being taken by the officers to gen pop. Since Dex had been an FBI agent before he turned into a deranged villain, putting him together with many criminals he had locked behind bars was a clear case of Fisk trying to have him die while in prison. That led to Matt investigating Foggy's death and eventually learning that Vanessa Fisk had ordered the hit on him.

When Vanessa alerts Fisk she has something to tell him as Bullseye arrives, everything clicks for Matt.

Fisk had gone away for his crimes, with Vanessa running his criminal empire. While having a drink at Josie's, which has not been open to the public since Foggy's death, Matt realizes that Foggy was drinking the expensive scotch they drank when celebrating after winning cases. That meant Foggy was celebrating early, as he knew he would win. That is what makes him understand that Bullseye did not kill Foggy out of an old grudge, but that he was acting on someone's orders. When Vanessa alerts Fisk she has something to tell him as Bullseye arrives, everything clicks for Matt.

Daredevil: Born Again season 1 has shown how Wilson and Vanessa Fisk have been trying to get their marriage back on track since he returned and she was forced to leave her position in his criminal empire behind as he became New York City's Mayor. It seemed like all of their therapy sessions were for nothing, as episode 7 saw Vanessa seemingly give Luca the address of where Fisk would be alone for him to kill the Kingpin. However, it has now been revealed that the couple worked together to get rid of Luca, with Vanessa never betraying her husband.

That got them the closest they had been in the show so far, and Fisk decides to let Vanessa not only see Adam, but put an end to his misery. Daredevil: Born Again's first episode teased how Adam was a figure that stood between the two. Later, the show confirmed that he was indeed a man Vanessa cheated on Wilson with when her husband was away. However, instead of letting that drive a wedge between them, the two become stronger than ever when Vanessa kills Adam to show Wilson that there is nothing that can separate them.

How BB Urich’s Story Takes A Dangerous Turn

A Reveal Connected To Netflix's Daredevil Is Finally Touched On

Genneya Walton's BB Urich sits in Fisk's office in Daredevil Born Again

BB Urich once again plays Daniel at the ball, as she had ulterior motives for being present at the event. Speaking with the Police Commissioner, she finds out that he has a list of all the corrupt cops in Mayor Fisk's new Anti-Vigilante Task Force. He also reveals to her that he has no part to play in the task force, as Kingpin is the only person in charge of it. Something that fans had long been asking about was whether BB was aware that Kingpin murdered her uncle, Ben Urich, in Netflix's Daredevil.

The commissioner tells her that Fisk was a suspect in Ben Urich's murder, but the MCU series reveals that BB already knew about that. BB is now playing a very dangerous game, as she handed the commissioner a card with her email, wanting to receive and expose the information about Fisk's task force. Even though she claims not everything she writes is under her name, Fisk already showed early in the season that he would kill again if needed when he threatened Daniel if he failed again. Daredevil: Born Again could end badly for BB if Fisk catches her.
