Some time after Matt Murdock made a truce with Wilson Fisk and Fisk broke Ben Poindexter's back, Fisk's run for Mayor of New York and Dex's return kick off a chain of events that forces Matt Murdock to wear the suit and cowl once again.

Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk and Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock have a long history together, having come to blows multiple times throughout Daredevil's three seasons. Wilson Fisk has repeatedly tried to kill or ruin Matt Murdock's life, while Matt has tried to expose Fisk's true face to the world. Despite his efforts, Matt Murdock hasn't succeeded, but the peace deal between Kingpin and Daredevil brought them a period of relative piece between the events of Daredevil season 3 and the beginning of Daredevil: Born Again.

Netflix's Daredevil season 1 introduced Vondie Curtis-Hall's Ben Urich, a seasoned reporter at the New York Bulletin, where he planned to retire publishing low-stakes stories in order to fund his wife's nursing care. However, Karen Page reaches out to Urich for help in her mission to expose the true culprit behind New York's gang crime. Together, Ben Urich and Karen Page investigate Wilson Fisk's illegal activities. Urich teaches Page how to investigate a dangerous criminal without endangering themselves or others. Still, Fisk has already placed Urich in his crosshairs by then.

Just as soon as Ben Urich prepares to expose Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin himself unveils his presence and notifies Urich that his research ends immediately. Fisk reveals he knew about Urich's investigation all along, but ing his mother was the last straw. Without breaking a sweat, Wilson Fisk strangles Ben Urich in his own room and exits the apartment. Ben Urich's death is the first in a long list of murders a highly volatile Wilson Fisk racks up in Daredevil seasons 1 through 3.

While Wilson Fisk's reputation remained intact after murdering Karen Page's closest ally, Ben Urich's death finished establishing Fisk as the Kingpin of New York to her, Matt Murdock, and the late Foggy Nelson, thus launching a long and violent feud that still seems unending to this day. Urich's death also inspired Karen Page to use her investigative skills to battle New York's organized crime her own way. Coupled with her split-second decision to kill James Wesley, Ben Urich's murder influenced Karen Page's partiality toward more definitive methods of crime-fighting, which has made her close to Frank Castle a.k.a. the Punisher.

Small interludes of BB Urich's interviews with New York citizens are spread throughout episodes 1 and 2. Genneya Walton's BB Urich is a clever and proactive journalist with a keen ion for New York's politics and vigilante matters. In Daredevil: Born Again episode 2, Wilson Fisk's young assistant Daniel arranges a meeting between Fisk and BB Urich in an attempt to broaden journalistic coverage that resonates with young viewers. Urich impresses Fisk with her knowledge, but Fisk dismisses her when she tries to ask him a question about Vanessa Marianna.

In the comics, Ben Urich's nephew Phillip has taken up the mantle of Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, and Goblin King.

BB Urich seems to be interested in Wilson Fisk's potential as Mayor of New York. Fisk himself praises BB's accurate coverage of his campaign and thanks her for being "one of the first people to take (him) seriously." But while BB Urich appears to be in of Wilson Fisk, the fact that Fisk killed her uncle Ben suggests that her is just a ploy to uncover key information and turn the tide against the mayor. ing forces with Karen Page and Matt Murdock may help BB achieve this goal in a future Daredevil: Born Again episode, if this theory is accurate.
