Now, a new report from Japanese media outlet MANTANWEB has revealed that the sales of Dandadan's original manga have doubled since the anime's premiere.
Written and illustrated weekly by Yukinobu Tatsu, Dandadan debuted on Shōnen Jump's digital publication, Jump+, in August 2021, and slowly built a sizable following for the many reasons its anime adaptation has found success. Already spanning nearly 200 chapters of story, it seems Tatsu has no current plans for halting his series. In fact, the series creator even assisted with production on the anime. Given the boost in sales following the anime's release, Dandadan will likely continue ahead at its current pace for quite a bit longer.

At the time that Dandadan's anime adaptation began airing, the manga's total sales were sitting at around 4 million copies. Undoubtedly a high number indicative of an already established fanbase, sales would only boom once studio Science SARU's adaptation premiered, bringing new eyes to the series from every direction. According to MANTANWEB, sales have currently jumped to over 8 million copies sold, doubling the total number from only three months prior.

It isn't uncommon for a popular anime to boost the sales of its source material, but fans have flocked to Dandadan like very few other manga series in the past. The jump in popularity is evident on Shueisha's Manga Plus service, as well. The equivalent to Jump+ for audiences outside of Japan, Manga Plus displays view counts for each new chapter released on the platform. Prior to Dandadan's anime premiere, the series averaged around or just under 300k views per release. Beginning in October, that number has jumped to about 350k to 400k for each chapter.

Luckily for fans of the series, it won't belong before Dandadan returns with its second season. Set to air in July 2025, Dandadan will look to build on its rapidly growing popularity, while countless fans wait eagerly to experience more of anime's latest phenomenon. Season Two will likely cover the events of the Evil Eye and parts of the Vamola Kaiju arcs from the manga, treating fans to larger-scale action than the anime has seen thus far.
Dandadan has experienced instant success like few other series have in the past, and with all the that the original manga is now receiving, chances are high that it will continue much further into the future. The anime still has quite a bit of story left to adapt, so fans will be happy to know that much more of the series is still to come.
