Cyclops’ its His Deep Appreciation for “Dangerous Women”

X-Men #2 – Written By Jed MacKay; Art By Ryan Stegman, Marte Gracia, Fernando Sifuentes, & Clayton Cowles

Cyclops and Jean Grey' wedding day in Marvel Comics.

Cyclops' love interests may seem radically different from one another, but they all share one common thread: they're dangerous, as he readily itted in X-Men #2.

Since ing the X-Men and most well-known relationships have been with Jean, her clone Madelyne Pryor, and Emma Frost, he's been linked with women like Captain Marvel and Frenzy in other timelines. At a glance, Cyclops' love interests may seem radically different from one another, but they all share one common thread: they're dangerous, as he readily itted in X-Men #2. Cyclops seems to gravitate toward partners who command respect and awe (from him and others), along with whatever physical attraction he feels.

Scott spends most of his life planning tactics and strategies to keep others safe. He was trained to be a leader, to keep his friends and teammates alive, and he's serious to a fault as a result. That sense of responsibility paired with the fear of losing control of his own mutant ability leaves him in a near-constant state of anxiety. It seems natural that he's drawn to partners who can take care of themselves and be relied upon in the worst-case scenarios. Their strength means that he's able to relax with them in a way he can't find elsewhere.

Cyclops knows that dangerous women make the best allies and partners, and they'll always have a spot with the X-Men.

Cyclops, a.k.a. Scott Summers, is the X-Men's core team leader and one of the first characters to appear in the franchise. As a human/mutant hybrid, Cyclops has the power to launch massive bursts of energy from his eyes that are regulated through the use of a specially designed visor. Despite his calm and collected demeanor, he tends to lose it when in the presence of a fellow team member, Wolverine.

Scott Summers’ Most Important Relationships Are With Powerful Women

Marvel Confirms Cyclops Has A Type

Romantic relationships aside, Cyclops' most central relationships are often with "dangerous" women. He's forged close bonds with other X-Men like Rogue and Storm, who he has trusted to lead the X-Men in his absence more than once, along with having Psylocke and Magik as core of his newly established team. Over the years and across timelines, Scott has surrounded himself with many of the Marvel Universe's most powerful women, whether they were romantic partners, friends, or even rivals. Cyclops knows that dangerous women make the best allies and partners, and they'll always have a spot with the X-Men.
