A monorail system featured prominently in Cyberpunk 2077 marketing early on, leading many to believe it would play an integral part in navigating the open-world environement. Developers removed the metro prior to shipping their sci-fi RPG in December 2020, however, with no hint as to whether it may ever see the light of day in-game.

Naturally, it didn't take long for the PC modding community to step in. The metro, known as Night City's NCART system, came to life in late 2021, thanks to PC modders who fully integrated 19 working stations across the sprawling open-world metropolis. Hopes that CD Projekt Red would revamp the NCART system across all platforms arose once more following the recent release of Cyberpunk 2077's feature-rich 1.5 patch. The rumor began in a since-deleted Reddit post, then made its way to a popular fan-run Cyberpunk community page on Twitter. Unfortunately, it seems such excitement was for naught.

Not too long after the metro revamp rumors began making the rounds online, CD Projekt Red's Global Community Director, Marcin Momot, took to Twitter to set the record straight. In response to a post about the monorail speculation from fan Cyberpunk 2077 Community (via GamesRadar), Momot clarified that CDPR has "no plans" to introduce a working metro system to Cyberpunk 2077. The Twitter exchange can be seen in the posts linked below:

So there you have it, Cyberpunk 2077's once complex monorail system remains out of order. And it seems as though it may not ever come online - not in this particular entry, at least. Still, fans and newcomers alike have plenty of new in-game content to look forward to, courtesy of the 1.5 update that CDPR unleashed earlier this week on February 15. As the title's next-gen update, 1.5 notably added graphics options, ray-tracing, and FPS boosts to the PS5 and Xbox Series versions.

Cyberpunk 2077's Version 1.5 debuted a host of new additions, as well. V now has access to more than one apartment, for instance, and players can finally manage the protagonist's looks in a hairdressing mirror. CD Projekt Red also deployed rebalanced systems for the economy and loot. Plus, several free missions and gigs now have V's phone ringing off the hook as soon as players boot up the experience. Some would argue Cyberpunk 2077's redemption arc is in full effect.
