While another game used to hold that title. Decades before CD Projekt Red released the 2020 open-world RPG, developer Ion Storm introduced the world to Deus Ex, a franchise that shares much of its DNA with Cyberpunk. While the series has been on an indefinite hiatus, one of the games' more iconic characters has managed to jump across universes and arrive in Night City.

Posted to Reddit by RenownedPilot, the Cyberpunk 2077 player shared their customized version of V that looks near identical to Adam Jensen, the protagonist of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and its sequel Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

The resemblance is uncanny as the even went out of their way to faithfully replicate the character's iconic eye implants, swept back hair and high-collared coat. The digital photo shoot even sees the character pose with a cigarette, much like he did in Human Revolution's iconic cinematic trailer which debuted back in 2013.

While depicting fairly different versions of a dystopian future, the two most recent Cyberpunk in of their themes, design, and overall presentation. Both franchises star an augmented character who is tasked with completing various objectives for shady clients while slowly growing stronger through a process of augmentation that steadily wittles down their humanity. While Human Revolution depicts a slicker vision of the future, Cyberpunk's Night City is far more grim and gritty, filled with flashy graffiti and over-the-top characters.

Adam Jensen, the star of Human Revolution and Mankind Divided, proved to be an especially popular character amongst players, many of whom expressed sympathy for his confusion regarding his purpose in a world where he was a weapon employed by a corporation. Unfortunately for fans of the franchise, it's unlikely that Jensen will return. Developer Eidos was closed by Embracer Group in the beginning of 2024, resulting in the cancelation of the next game which had been in development for two years at that point.

Given that Jensen's saga won't continue any time soon, Deus Ex fans will have to settle for the RPG offers plenty of opportunities for player expression, meaning those enthusiasts who want to give it a go and bring the fallen franchise mascot back to life, albeit in a different series. While it may not be the same, it's certainly better than nothing.
