Whenever players beat one of the main bosses in The Lamb is offered a deal by The One Who Waits, who tasks him with amassing a cult in its name in exchange for resurrection. As players fulfill this task, they will eventually have to defeat the Bishops; Leshy, Heket, Kallamar, and Shamura, and rip out their heretic hearts.

Each Bishop in Cult of the Lamb can be found at the end of one of the four main areas in the game: Darkwood, Anura, Anchordeep, and Silk Cradle. Unlocking each of these areas will depend solely on how many followers players manage to gain. Darkwood will require a single cultist, while Anura will require seven, Anchordeep nine, and Silk Cradle twelve. After beating each area and their Bishop, players will obtain a Heretic Heart, which they can then use at a Shrine in this creepy-cute indie game to unlock the powerful Crown Upgrades.

The four Crown Upgrades that players can get are Omnipresence, Resurrection, The Hunger, and Darkness Within. Omnipresence will allow players to concentrate for about five seconds, at the end of which they will teleport back to their base. Resurrection gives them a second chance at life during a run in exchange for one of The Lamb's followers. The Hunger gives players more health when eating the first meal of the day, but upon being lost, these points cannot be regenerated. Lastly, Darkness Within gives players a Diseased Heart at the beginning of a run, which makes it so all enemies take damage whenever the player is hit, but will eventually run out of charges and disappear.

The Best Crown Upgrades in Cult of the Lamb

Cult of the Lamb Crown Offerings Crusade Upgrades Omnipresence Menu

While it is possible for players to eventually get all four upgrades in the cute and creepy Cult of the Lamb, the order in which they are obtained can be very important. Omnipresence can be extremely useful, as it allows players to reset a crusade without losing accumulated resources or having to die, which results in a loss of faith by their followers. The second-best pick is likely to be Resurrection, as it gives players a bit more leeway during a run, allowing them a second chance to handle a tough or unforeseen situation.

The Hunger becomes more useful towards the tougher stages of the game, as having a bit more health, even if it can’t be regained, is a powerful buff in Cult of the Lamb. Darkness Within is unfortunately the weakest of the upgrades unless players are on Easy mode, where the damage can quickly annihilate most enemies on the screen. In higher difficulties, this upgrade is quite weak, as players should be doing everything in their power to avoid getting hit in the first place. As players review their options in Cult of the Lamb, they may decide on a completely different order, which is completely fine as it ultimately depends on each person's play style.
