Today, developer Crytek surprise released a next-gen update for the Crysis Remastered. After years of fan requests, Crytek launched Crysis Remastered last year on consoles and PC. It wasn't the experience fans had longed for, though, especially on PS4 and Xbox One.
Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One still aren't the ideal platforms to experience the seminal PC shooter.
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players were treated to a surprise next-gen update for Crysis Remastered today. Crytek shared patch notes for both across two separate Reddit posts, breaking down each system's graphical and performance boosts. In addition, the next-gen update adds the Classic Nanosuit menu, a litany of bug fixes, and the Ascension level, the latter of which lets players pilot a VTOL.
In of the breakdown, PS5 owners can expect Crysis Remastered's Performance Mode to boast 1080p/60fps capabilities. Quality Mode outputs a resolution of 1800p at 60fps. Meanwhile, 1440p at 60fps is possible in RayTracing. Performance and RayTracing on Xbox Series X feature the same specifications as their PS5 counterparts. Yet, Quality Mode on the Series X takes a bit of a leap, running 2160p at 60fps. The Performance Mode on the lower-end Series S also hits 1080p/60ps, while Quality and RayTracing target 2160p/30fps and 1080p/30fps, respectively.
It remains to be seen how well these fresh enhancements run on the newer consoles, but this certainly seems a good step in raising the quality of Crysis Remastered's console versions. Players are bound to find the RayTracing mode is especially interesting.
Much like the Performance RT mode for Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, Crysis' RayTracing will allow console players to enjoy fancy next-gen lighting techniques and still explore a typically fast-paced open-world at a, hopefully, smooth 60 frames per second.
Crysis Remastered is available to play now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
