Paramount+ had already ordered a new season of the series even before the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1 finale. This means that showrunner Erica Messer and her team have been crafting more elaborate mysteries that can be tied to the events of the BAU's case against Sicarius. Between lingering plot lines and subsequent updates released since it wrapped up, there are some great possibilities in of what Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 may be about.

The mystery of Gold Star will be an overarching storyline that will continue in the new year for the FBI profilers. Elias Voit's capture opened the door for so many more questions regarding who or what it really is. Meanwhile, the divisive Tyler Green will also make a comeback, hinting that his affair with Garcia may not be done, or he has something to do with the BAU's next case.
