Some content creators are receiving mysterious pizza boxes filled with Crash Bandicoot goodies and a date teasing a possible announcement for the same day as this year's Game Awards. At one point, Crash was considered the Sony PlayStation's mascot and helped put The Last of Us 2 and Uncharted developer Naughty Dog on the map. Some developers attempted to keep the Crash IP alive but failed to capture the classic trilogy's charm. Unfortunately, this led the platform-jumping and crate-smashing bandicoot to take a long hiatus from the gaming world.

Early in the summer of 2020, Activision sent game journalists puzzles depicting a mysterious mask character, teasing something related to the franchise. The Crash Bandicoot sequel was officially announced soon after. Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time was met with positive reviews when it was released later that year. Now, some lucky fans have been receiving more Crash-themed gifts with a new cryptic tease.

Secret pizza box packages filled with Crash-themed gifts have been arriving for content creators, with a line on the side of the box providing the tease "HUNGRY FOR MORE? TRY OUR NEW WUMPA PIZZA FOR $12.08!" YouTuber Crash Bandicoot 4's PC version coming to Steam on October 18th, 2022. Still, many believe the $12.08 price tag for the "new wumpa pizza" is a clue that a new Crash Bandicoot game could be announced on December 8, the same date as The Game Awards 2022.

Aku Aku's Pizza Shack Delivers More Than Pizza

Geoff Keighley's Game Awards is no stranger to Crash Bandicoot reveals. During the 2018 award show, Crash made a special appearance to reveal CTR: Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, a remake of the original PlayStation's beloved kart racer. Rumors suggest the developer of Crash 4, Toys For Bob, has a Crash multiplayer game in the works, which may be called Wumpa League. If those rumors are true, the date teased on the Aku Aku pizza box may be when fans get their first look at a new Crash Bandicoot multiplayer brawler game.

Many fans who grew up on the first PlayStation's Crash Bandicoot trilogy were thrilled to see the classics they loved as children remade. Developer Toys for Bob remade both the Spyro the Dragon and Crash trilogies for modern audiences, and this has helped cause a resurgence of the classic platforming franchise. Although many fans enjoyed Crash Bandicoot 4, others felt it was difficult and more frustrating than its classic predecessors. Still, judging by the success of the remakes and its newest entry, fans will likely accept a new Crash Bandicoot game with open arms.
