Jensen Ackles has shared several new behind-the-scenes images from his next TV project, CBS' Tracker cast as the brother to Justin Hartley's Colter.
After filming was reported to begin in September, Ackles took to his Instagram to share a Countdown filming update. The star wrote "Quick little update on set. We are well on our way here and having a blast. That's what it's all about! Happy Friday folks. Stay tuned for more", before sharing the first set of behind-the-scenes photos from the show. The first image features Ackles as LAPD Officer Mark Meachum, along with Jessica Camacho as Amber Oliveras. The next image is a behind-the-scenes one featuring series creator Derek Haas.
The gallery continues with another image featuring Ackles on the set playing guitar with Elliot Knight. There are also two images featuring Ackels, Oliveras, and Ulti Latukefu. One features the stars outside, while another sees them inside of a building and potentially on-set. Another image features Ackels and Latukefu together, showing their characters dressed up in suits for some kind of special occasion. Check out the post and images below:
What The Images Mean For Countdown
A Regular Pairing May Already Have Been Revealed
With Ackles releasing the above images, viewers now have more of an idea of what's to come from Countdown. Ackles' Meachum looks more like The Boys than he does Dean from Supernatural. The images also give an idea of the dynamics of the various characters in the show. Since there are a lot of images of Ackles with Oliveras and Latukefu, it hints that those are the performers that he will be spending the most screen time with, likely being the other of the secret task force of undercover agents Meachum's recruited for.

Jensen Ackles' 4 Movies & TV Shows
Jensen Ackles is steadily building up his filmography as he tackles new TV shows and movies that take him further from his Supernatural breakout role.
The images also show that the Countdown cast are having fun together while making the show. This hopefully means that the actors will have strong chemistry together on the show, which can really benefit the show. One of the best parts of Supernatural was the onscreen chemistry that Ackles had with Jared Padalecki, who played Dean's brother Sam. One aspect of the show that kept making Supernatural viewers come back for more was the brotherhood between the Winchesters, which was made believable by their chemistry. If Ackles can a similar dynamic, it could propel the show to the top.
What Will Countdown Even Be?
The Show Will Be A Prime Video Thriller
The chemistry should be a significant part of the show, but its narrative is similarly important. The show is set to premiere on Prime Video and has already been given a 13-episode order. There are already many great shows to watch on Prime Video, but this should be a fairly epic series that reaches a new height. It will begin with a relatively small issue, as an L.A.P.D. investigator researches a suspicious murder. After some time, however, the show will see that murder escalate into a conspiracy with enormous stakes and city-wide consequences.
The action-driven thriller should provide him with ample opportunities to feature in action sequences.
The show should feature immense action, nonstop drama, and a constantly escalating core dilemma for its characters. After earning acclaim for his role in The Boys, it is no surprise that Prime Video would want Ackles to star in a show of his own. He is poised to play undercover officer Mark Meachum and will have a significant role. Like his other works, the action-driven thriller should provide him with ample opportunities to feature in action sequences and in an ensemble cast with numerous other actors to play off of.
The show could also continue the streamer's recent success with action projects that began with the John Krasinski-led Jack Ryan, which is also about to return for a movie continuation. Since then, the Alan Ritchson-starring Reacher show has seen widespread acclaim and strong viewership for Prime Video, with Chris Pratt's The Terminal List not only getting a season 2 renewal, but also a prequel spinoff. As such, if Ackles' show finds the same level of success as the rest of Prime Video's library, Countdown could very well become a mainstay for the platform.
Our Take On The Countdown Images
The Crime Thriller Will Be Bolstered By Its Cast's Chemistry
The Instagram post shows that viewers who are anticipating the show will find the type of series they are hoping for from an Ackles-led crime thriller. This will not be an entirely new position for the star, regardless of his decision to an all-new cast. Though he wasn't a police officer in Supernatural, Dean often mimicked them in an attempt to investigate crimes, so Ackles has some experience as an investigator. Meachum will simply see him flipping his role, as he will instead play an officer who attempts to mimic civilians.
Countdown reportedly began filming in September.
The images also reveal that one of Countdown's strengths will be the show's cast and the characters' dynamics. If the actors can get along in the real world, they should be able to showcase a strong relationship on-screen as well. Creator Derek Haas has experience bringing together large casts for procedural shows, as he also co-created two series in NBC's One Chicago franchise. With that in mind, the successful casting should come as no surprise. There is not yet a release date, but it should be a truly compelling show when it does come to Prime Video.

Countdown centers on LAPD officer Mark Meachum (Ackles), who — after a broad-daylight murder — is brought into a secret task force with agents from a host of law enforcement agencies. A more sinister plot then comes into focus as the task force must put aside competing agendas to save an entire city.
