Globally popular Korean pop group BTS comes to BTS Fortnite concert in 2020 to Garena Free Fire and Tamagotchi. K-Pop fans tend to participate by the millions during collaborations like this, causing surges of new players to any games that decide to partner with the internationally successful K-pop group.
With millions of in the BTS Army, as the band's fans are known, it's no wonder that franchises like Cookie Run: Kingdom are eager to collaborate. BTS is no stranger to the gaming industry due to the group's endorsements, but the band has also branched out with its own mobile title. The Netmarble title caters directly to BTS' ARMY and features seven in a wide variety of fan-made scenarios. For fans of the group, BTS Universe Story, which lets them create scenarios like zombie apocalypses and detective stories, is one of a few mobile games that connects them to BTS.
Devsisters has announced the Cookie Run: Kingdom BTS collaboration, Braver Together, through a trailer showcasing the seven RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook as Cookies performing in Cookie Kingdom. The BTS Cookies are a special class in Cookie Run, but interact with the environment just as any other Cookies players have collected. BTS' cookies are as charming as the in real life, each displaying a cookie-flavored twist on each band member's signature style. Besides the BTS Cookies themselves, there are 21 new BTS costumes based on the outfits worn in music videos Butter, Mic Drop, and Permission to Dance which can be unlocked with Cookie Run Kingdom Rainbow Cubes. The crossover also features BTS decor acquired by completing missions, and players can upgrade and promote the BTS Cookies to earn Photocards.
Cookie Run: Kingdom's BTS Event Is A Boon For K-Pop Fans
Some new Cookie Run: Kingdom events have been added as well, including six BTS song rhythm games, missions that earn players ARMY BOMBs to use in the band's themed gacha, and special stories. There is also a special Stamp Event where fans can collect stamps through having the BTS Cookies interacting with themed decor. When all the stamps are collected, players can earn a "Purple Stage" for their BTS Cookies to perform on in Cookie Run: Kingdom.
The announcement of the Braver Together event is a big deal for fans of K-pop music and players of Cookie Run: Kingdom. While BTS is easily one of the biggest names in the genre, it's not the only group that's appeared in the video game space. In 2021, K-pop girl group Blackpink collaborated with PUBG in an event that added cosmetic items themed after the four of the band to the battle royale. Since the two groups have enjoyed similar oversees success, it's no surprise that BTS is also popping up in video games throughout the industry.
This crossover event could be an excellent opportunity for BTS fans and Cookie Run: Kingdom players alike to branch out and either pick up a new favorite game or get exposed to a new favorite genre of music. Given the long history of crossover events the of BTS have already taken part in, time will tell where the band will appear next, and whether or not their in-game appearances will be as cute as their baked likenesses in Cookie Run: Kingdom.
