Below Deck Down Under season 3 has been far more difficult than anticipated, and it seems to be turning her into a villain before viewers’ eyes. While she may not be the traditional reality TV villain, Tzarina's behavior has been upsetting for her crew and fans.

While Tzarina isn’t the only crew member aboard Katina to have issues, it’s been interesting to see her struggling after having such a strong season in the previous year. Working with Captain Jason Chambers again, Tzarina seemed like she was going to be set up for success, especially with the addition of a sous chef for the galley. Knowing she had more tools to succeed has made Tzarina’s descent into becoming a franchise villain even more difficult to fathom. While Captain Jason may have been dealing with some problems with other crew , Tzarina's issues need to be addressed soon.

Although Tzarina seems to mean well with her difficult attitude on Below Deck Down Under season 3, I think she's becoming more of a villain than she realizes on the show.

Tzarina Has Been A Fan Favorite In The Past

She Was Originally A Fun Addition

While Tzarina has become a bit unbearable in the current season, she was a joy to watch throughout Below Deck Down Under season 2. Tzarina may have been somewhat quirky, but her ability to cook was never called into question. Working hard for the charter guests, Tzarina was able to mesh well with the rest of the crew throughout the last charter season she worked aboard. Forming a relationship with stew Margot Sisson that seemed like a genuine friendship, Tzarina was someone I was originally looking forward to seeing on the list of Below Deck Down Under season 3’s cast.

She's Not Connecting With Anyone

As Below Deck Down Under season 3, she was given a bit more help in the galley. With sous chef Anthony Bird aboard Katina, it was clear that Tzarina was going to have a bit more responsibility in managing someone, but also a bit more help with a whole other chef in the mix. Many believed it would be good for Tzarina to have help, but when she got to know Anthony, things went sour pretty quickly. The sous chef had a hard time taking Tzarina’s orders, but her behavior wasn’t much better as she micromanaged Anthony.

After Anthony was fired, Tzarina moved on to working with the new sous chef Alesia Harris. While her rapport with Alesia is a bit better, Tzarina very clearly still doesn’t trust the new chef to get her job done, either. Tzarina has struggled in her work with Alesia so heartily that it’s been noticed by others, including the Captain. On top of her difficulties in letting go of control when it comes to her service, Tzarina’s had a tough time meshing with the interior team this season, specifically Chief Stew Lara Rigby. The pair have clashed at every possible point.

Tzarina’s Attitude Has Been Condescending

She Doesn't Trust The Crew At All

Making it clear that she feels she knows better than most everyone else aboard Katina, Tzarina has had a hard time letting go of her attitude when it comes to the other of the crew. Specifically, Tzarina’s interactions with Lara have been tough to get through. While Lara has her own issues on Tzarina seems to feel she's above Lara on Katina's meal service.

Although Tzarina seems to mean well with her difficult attitude on Below Deck Down Under season 3, I think she's becoming more of a villain than she realizes on the show. Some Below Deck villains aren't traditional, stirring up the pot and creating drama for the crew. Some are difficult to work with, bad at their jobs, or simply find themselves at odds with the rest of the crew. Personally, I think Tzarina is a mix of two of the aforementioned villain categories. Tzarina's struggling to let anyone else take control of the galley, even when she needs them to.

On top of her inability to let go, which has made her difficult to work with, Tzarina has mentioned more than once that she doesn't feel like the rest of the crew are accepting her. Coming off Below Deck Down Under season 2, where she had friends and a lot of social interaction aboard the superyacht, it's clear that Tzarina is feeling isolated. Unfortunately, that's a mess of her own making. The Below Deck Down Under chef needs to make some big changes to avoid the fate of a franchise villain.
