The Conjuring Universe is the shared universe featured in a variety of different horror movies. These movies are scary films and are dramatized versions of the true stories of different hauntings investigated by real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Curse Of La Llorona (5.3)

The Curse of La Llorona is one of the spin-off films from the main Conjuring series. This movie was released in 2019 and is set in the 1970s. It's based on a terrifying figure from Mexican folklore known as La Llorona, also known as The Weeping Woman. According to myths and legends, La Llorona is a woman that drowned her children in a river after catching her husband with another woman, then took her own life. Her spirit is doomed to roam the Earth and take other children to the other side with her forever.

In this movie, a mother and her children find themselves drawn into a terrifying supernatural world. In order to try to free themselves of La Llorona's wrath, they have to turn to a priest who doesn't seem all that eager to help them escape this mythical curse.

The Nun (5.3)

The Nun was released in 2018 and is a spin-off film of the main series of Conjuring films. How related the spin-off films are to the main films in The Conjuring series really depends on the movie, but The Nun is unique because it is pretty directly connected. The title refers to a demonic incarnation of Valak, the nun that appears in The Conjuring 2.

Valak was already scary enough in The Conjuring 2, so it's no surprise that this movie was totally terrifying, too. The Nun takes place in the 1950s in a convent in Romania where some terrifying things are said to have happened. A priest and nun go to investigate in the hopes of finding a miracle, only to come face-to-face with Valak herself. The movie gives us a look into exactly how Valak came to be and why this nun was terrorizing the Warrens in The Conjuring 2.

There are quite a few scary movies that focus on dolls and other toys. It's hard to deny that regular dolls are already pretty creepy, but horror movies have a certain way of making them even more terrifying. Annabelle is a doll that the Warrens investigated during their time as paranormal investigators and is one of the most famous haunted dolls in existence. The first film about this doll, Annabelle, was released in 2014.

This film follows a couple that come into possession of a beautiful, vintage doll. Unfortunately for the two of them, terrifying things begin to happen in and around their home shortly after they bring the doll into their home. As the move unfolds, it becomes clear that the doll must somehow be to blame for these scary events and it becomes obvious why the doll this movie is based on has become so famous.

Annabelle Comes Home is the third movie in the series of Annabelle movies, a spin-off series of the main Conjuring films. This movie was released in 2019 and continues on with the legacy of this scary haunted doll. The movie is set after the Warrens took the Annabelle doll into their possession in order to stop it from causing any more harm to unsuspecting people that may come into with it.

Unfortunately for the Warrens, they didn't consider the fact that maybe, their house isn't the best place to keep a doll that is a vessel for a vengeful spirit. Even though the doll can't cause problems for innocent people out in the world, the doll sets its sights on the Warrens' young daughter and her babysitter and begins wreaking havoc on them one night.

Annabelle: Creation (6.5)

Annabelle: Creation is the second movie in the series of Annabelle films. We all know that every horror movie character has a backstory that lead to them being the terrifying monster, demon, or spirit that we see in the movie. Many movies either show us that backstory in the film or at least give us a little taste of what it is, but the first Annabelle film only touched on it and left us with a ton of questions about what could've caused this doll to turn evil.

Annabelle: Creation is set in the home of a former toy maker and his wife who lost their daughter, Annabelle, several years prior to the start of the film. The two of them welcome in six orphaned girls into their home in order to give them somewhere to stay. Unfortunately, life in their idyllic farmhouse takes a turn for the worst when one of the girls sneaks into an off-limits room and takes out a seemingly innocent doll.

The Conjuring 2 (7.3)

The Conjuring 2 is a horror film that was released in 2016 and is the sequel to The Conjuring. This movie is set in the late 1970s and follows Ed and Lorraine Warren as the two of them travel to England to meet the Hodgson family. The family tells the paranormal investigators that there's something evil living inside of their home and the Warrens stay to investigate.

This movie is the second movie in The Conjuring series and the third released in the franchise overall. The movie is based on the true story of The Enfield Poltergeist, a name given to the paranormal entity that was allegedly active from 1977 to 1979 in the Hodgson's family in Enfield, a borough of London. The Conjuring isn't the only movie to tackle this haunting: in 1992 BBC came under fire when their mockumentary based on the haunting, Ghostwatch, seemed a little too real and terrified some viewers.
