New marketing posters for an Godzilla vs Kong match coming to Warzone, either. Late last month, reputable industry insider Tom Henderson and a Twitter who has since deactivated their claimed classified concept art depicted the two iconic monsters wreaking havoc in the world of Call of Duty. Not too long thereafter, an official Season 3 trailer for Warzone and Vanguard offered a few cryptic hints about Kong's and Godzilla's supposedly forthcoming debut.
While developer Raven Software has yet to confirm or deny the ongoing monster-themed speculation, the studio continues to hint at the big changes that will hit Call of Duty: Warzone during Season 3. New weapons will soon enter the experience, for instance, along with unspecified map changes, audio improvements, and sniper rifle nerfs. If the leaks and rumors regarding a Godzilla vs Kong crossover prove accurate, however, the Caldera map's next major update could shift things quite dramatically.
Twitter CharlieIntel recently shared a pair of CoD: Warzone images from a "marketing email," both of which seem to hint that Godzilla will eventually land on Caldera. One image, in particular, centers on the map's Peak, or volcano, POI, which looks as though it's recently come under attack. Since the King of Monsters and volcanoes often go hand in hand, players could be in for quite the treat whenever the next update drops. And if King Kong is also set to appear in Season 3 as speculated, a fight between the two could lead to the volcanic eruption that Warzone fans have long predicted.
Raven Software unleashed Warzone Pacific Season 2 Reloaded this past February. While pundits and fans can guess when Season 3 will finally go live, Raven and publisher Activision have yet to share specifics. As such, there exists no official word on when exactly the supposed Godzilla vs Kong crossover will hit the free-to-play battle royale experience. The constant teases suggest the update may go live sooner rather than later, however.
Activision launched Call of Duty: Warzone in early 2020; it didn't take long for the title to become an overnight success. The shooter managed to reach over 100 million players after only a little over a year on the market. It's no wonder, then, that Activision may be pursuing a proper sequel for new-gen consoles.
Call of Duty: Warzone is playable on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
