Warning: Spoilers for Cobra Kai season 6 part 2

Sekai Taikai teams to become one of the last four standing.

But rather than wrap up with a winner crowned in Cobra Kai season 6 part 2's last episode, the Netflix series left the door open for it to be canceled altogether. With Kwon dead as the result of a brawl that broke out on the tournament floor, there's now a very real possibility that Cobra Kai's final tournament won't even have a winner. However, it's not as if the brawl itself denied Johnny and Daniel a victory. Based on how things were going, Miyagi-Do was going to come up short regardless.

Axel Was Going To Win The Male Captain Competition

It was Only A Matter Of Time Before Robby Lost To Axel

The semifinals match between Miyagi-Do's Robby and the Iron Dragons' Axel never had a proper conclusion, but the trajectory of the fight made the eventual outcome clear. An issue that plagued Robby throughout the tournament was his lack of focus and inability to keep Tory out of his thoughts, but even without that being a factor in the match, Robby was plainly outmatched. Axel maintained a stout defense against his opponent's attacks and appeared equally fast and agile. At no moment in their fight was there ever a hint that Robby could somehow prevail.

Robby successfully dodged and blocked some of his blows, but never managed to do more than that. When the fight was interrupted, Axel had five points whereas Robby had yet to score one. Granted, comebacks do happen in The Karate Kid franchise, but Robby turning things around feels unlikely in this situation. There was an immense strength gap, meaning that Axel would be able to take more punishment than Robby could. He'd wear out before that would happen to the Iron Dragons dojo's best fighter in Cobra Kai.

Johnny Lawrence finally had a chance to earn a satisfying redemption in Cobra Kai season 6, perfectly paying off his season 4 story.

Even though the fight with Robby was just the semifinals, there was a sense of inevitability when it comes to Axel winning the male captain competition. After defeating Robby, he'd have advanced to the finals for a fight with Kwon, another fighter he'd surely beat. That was on display in the brawl, when a desperate Kwon resorted to using Kreese's knife when he was pitted against Axel. As proven by Kwon's loss to Robby in a previous event, he'd be the weaker of the two opponents for Axel.

Even If Sam Beat Tory And Zara, Miyagi-Do Would Still Lose

While it's worth noting that Miyagi-Do's Sekai Taikai team had two fighters still in play, winning the Robby vs. Axel match was essential to any scenario where they would become Sekai Taikai champions. Supposing Sam did manage to beat Tory, she would have fought Zara in the final round of the female captain competition. There's no proof as to who would have won this fight, but had it been Sam that emerged triumphant, this result would haven't moved the needle very far in Miyagi-Do's direction without a Robby win in the male captain event.

Before Robby's fight with Axel, the point score total on the screen confirmed that the Iron Dragons were greatly outpacing Miyagi-Do. Firmly in first place, Sensei Wolf's students had 138 points to Miyagi-Do's 87. Hypothetically, Sam getting a win over Tory would have narrowed the gap slightly, but Axel beating Robby (and then Kwon) would most assuredly have put the championship out of reach for Daniel and Johnny's team before Sam could even fight Zara in the finals.

Miyagi-Do Would Be Unlikely To Win Even With Miguel As Male Captain

If Robby Had Given Up The Captain Position To Miguel, The Iron Dragons Would Still Win

A recurring theme in Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 was this notion that Robby was perhaps not the right pick to lead the Miyagi-Do team. Whether that's true or not, there's no evidence that a different choice would have helped them win the tournament. During the brawl, Miguel finally got a chance to go one-on-one with Axel, and while this fight didn't have a definitive winner either, Miguel was also shown to be at a clear disadvantage against him. Similar to how he stacked up against Robby, Axel was the only one landing blows, with Miguel getting pushed back with each hit.

It looks like Terry Silver would indeed have gotten the revenge he was after if the brawl hadn't broken out.

This goes to show that Miyagi-Do was never in a good position to win the Sekai Taikai. It's theoretically possible that with the considerably more focused Miguel as leader, they'd have more points going into the semifinals and therefore have improved odds of winning the championship, but Axel would remain the favorite to win the male captain competition. All things considered, it looks like Terry Silver would indeed have gotten the revenge he was after if the brawl hadn't broken out in the closing rounds of the tournament.

Can Miyagi-Do Find A Way To Win If The Tournament Continues?

It's Unclear If Robby Having A Second Chance At Axel Would Change Anything

While a victory did appear imminent for Terry Silver's Sekai Taikai team, Cobra Kai seemingly circumvented that with the brawl. However, there's been no confirmation of the event being officially cancelled, since the aftermath of Cobra Kai hasn't been shown yet. Judging by the circumstances, the people who oversee the tournament would have good reasons for calling this year's competition off, but it's possible that those who want it to continue will successfully advocate for it to resume. If that happens, it's worth wondering if Daniel and Johnny will be able to produce a different result.

If it moves forward, Miyagi-Do will face an uphill battle against the Iron Dragons

Now that Robby has fought Axel in Cobra Kai, he'll be able to step onto the mat with a much better idea of what he needs to do to win. That experience could be vital, as it could lead to Robby performing better in a fight he was originally going to lose, most likely by a significant margin. Whatever preparation he could get during the delay could help tremendously, but it's hard to imagine it shifting the odds out of Axel's favor, as the latter will still be considerably stronger. If it moves forward, Miyagi-Do will face an uphill battle against the Iron Dragons, who are well-positioned to win the Sekai Taikai.
