Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Cobra Kai season 6, part 3.

Kwon’s death at the end of Cobra Kai season 6, episode 10, it remained to be seen whether the Sekai Taikai would return if at all. As teased in the trailers for part 3, the Sekai Taikai did resume in Cobra Kai’s final episodes, and it was all thanks to Terry Silver.

Not only did Terry Silver "ambush" Gunther Braun and offer to handle the Sekai Taikai’s PR nightmare, but he also personally tried to convince Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence to approve the tournament’s return. For Mr. Braun to accept bringing the Sekai Taikai back for the final rounds, all senseis would have to agree. While convincing Johnny was not difficult, Silver had to be honest with Daniel to get the Miyagi-Do senseis on board.

Cobra Kai Season 6, Episode 11 Confirmed Terry Silver Was Dying

Terry Silver Only Has Six Months To Live At The Start Of Part 3

Terry Silver looking in the mirror in Cobra Kai season 6, part 3

Terry Silve tried to win over Daniel and Johnny by saying that he had nothing left, and that winning the Sekai Taikai with the Iron Dragons was his last chance at having a legacy. Daniel initially did not take this seriously considering that Silver was rich and could pursue other things in life after the Sekai Taikai. This is when Silver revealed that he was sick and did not have much time left, which Johnny confirmed by ing that he saw Silver at the hospital. Later in Cobra Kai season 6, part 3, it’s confirmed Silver only has six months left.

While Terry Silver and John Kreese created Cobra Kai, the dojo's teachings were directly inspired by what they had learned from Master Kim Sun-Yung.

While Cobra Kai does not disclose what Silver’s condition is, it is heavily implied to be cancer. In season 6, episode 13, when Terry is looking at the mirror, he re his doctor saying that they thought “it was gone” but that it had now returned. Silver has been on medication since at least we were reintroduced to him in Cobra Kai season 4, which sparked a lot of theories about his health and why he was so focused on the legacy of the Cobra Kai dojo.

How Terry Silver's Terminal Condition Affected His Plan In Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 3

Terry Silver Was Willing To Do Anything To Win The Sekai Taikai

Terry Silver has been talking about legacy ever since he returned to the world of karate, particularly regarding the Sekai Taikai. For Silver, winning the global tournament with Cobra Kai was a way to have a longstanding legacy and build something that would continue after his death, as the dojo he created would now take over the world. However, after he was arrested and lost Cobra Kai for good, Silver’s only option was to take over another dojo.

Karate Kid: Legends already looks very different from Cobra Kai, with several standout elements marking the two as very opposite stories.

With only six months left to live, Terry Silver was willing to do anything to bring the Sekai Taikai back and win it all in season 6. This includes ordering the kidnapping of Johnny’s family to convince him to lose the fight, which only didn’t happen because Kreese anticipated Silver’s plan. Although Terry Silver has been the wild card of Cobra Kai since season 4, his actions make a lot more sense now that we know he had nothing to lose.
