Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is packed full of secrets and mysteries that have kept players busy over the first few weeks of its launch, and some discoveries weren't necessarily things the developers at Sandfall Interactive put there on purpose. Turns out there's an exploit that players have discovered that allows you to take advantage of one particular enemy's unique ability in order to farm an absurd amount of Colour of Lumina. If you're going to take advantage of this "glitch," I'd highly recommend you do it before Sandfall releases an update.

There are quite a few secrets in Clair Obscur, but I don't think this is one that the developers intended players to uncover, as it's really more of an exploit of one particular enemy in Old Lumiere. The "glitch" allows you to stack Colour of Lumina rewards by continually triggering a clone of one of the enemies in the area. Notably, doing so will significantly cause performance degradation in the game, which is why I'm fairly confident this will be patched out in the near future.

Best Place To Farm Colour Of Lumina In Clair Obscur

The Chromatic Danseuse In Old Lumiere Spawns Clones

To farm the most possible Colour of Lumina in Clair Obscur from a single enemy, you will need to make it about halfway through the game and finish the main story up to the Manor in Old Lumiere. After defeating Renoir, you'll be able to go back and freely explore, and you can actually head back to the spot where Monoco messed up big time and destroyed all those buildings earlier in Act 2. Nearby, you'll find the Train Station Ruins Expedition Flag and will be able to locate the Chromatic Danseuse enemy not far down that same path.

Old Lumiere is well worth fully exploring again after you've defeated Renoir there, with a handful of areas only accessible after the fight.

This Chromatic Danseuse enemy is your one-stop shop for a motherlode of Colour of Lumina upgrade materials. Thanks to one particular skill this enemy has, you can stack thousands of Colour of Lumina during this encounter, but it's imperative that you don't kill the Chromatic Danseuse until you are ready to cash out for good. The caveat for this glitch is that, as with any Chromatic Nevron in Clair Obscur, you will only be able to fight and kill it once, and it will not respawn after defeating it as most other lesser enemies would.

How To Farm Colour Of Lumina & XP From The Chromatic Danseuse In Old Lumiere

The Danseuse Exploit Requires Triggering Clones & Keeping The Chromatic Danseuse Alive

Once you find the Chromatic Danseuse, you'll need to understand how its attacks work in order to reap the rewards. The Chromatic Danseuse has a unique ability to spawn two clones at the start of any turn if it doesn't have any active clones. The fight will not end until all enemies are killed, and killing each of these clones rewards 5x Colour of Lumina. If you haven't caught on yet, that means you can theoretically continue killing the Danseuse clones and skipping your turn forever, avoiding the Chromatic Danseuse until you (or your system) can't do it anymore.

There's supposedly a further method for increasing your rewards for this glitch involving the Contorso weapon, which some players on Reddit and other channels have reported doubles your XP, Chroma, and even the Colour of Lumina rewards. Various players in the community have posted their Colour of Lumina and XP bounties in the official Clair Obscur Discord as well as on YouTube, with over 2,000 Colour of Lumina and over 1 billion (with a B) XP. If you want to take advantage of these loopholes, I'd recommend doing it soon.

Why The Danseuse Glitch In Clair Obscur Is Not Going To Last Long

The Cat's Out Of The Bag, So Get Your Lumina While It's Hot

While this is an incredible exploit that you can fully take advantage of, it may be a temporary situation. For starters, dragging the fight on over an extended period of time causes considerable lag and performance degradation even on the best hardware. To me, that means they are going to be looking at this for reasons beyond simply not wanting players to exploit a loophole for XP and Colour of Lumina resources, especially if it will cause issues or even crashes on both the PC and console versions.

"If the devs are willing to nerf Stendahl because it was dealing ridiculous amounts of damage, I can't imagine this exploit will be around long either."

I simply don't think the Colour of Lumina rewards were placed there by the developers as a hidden treasure of sorts. You were likely only meant to be able to get 5x Colour of Lumina from three total enemies. Whether this was an intentional secret they didn't think anyone would figure out or it was something they simply overlooked and didn't consider, there's a good chance they're well aware of it now. If the devs are willing to nerf Stendahl because it was dealing ridiculous amounts of damage, I can't imagine this exploit will be around long either.

It's also hard to imagine the developers intended for players to be able to earn over a billion points of XP in a single fight, even if it is a great feeling to walk away with a fully decked-out Level 99 crew after an hour or so of cheesing the Chromatic Danseuse. Either way, at least for the time being, you can push your system and your patience to the limits by spawning as many Danseuse clones as you can take down, potentially earning upwards of a billion XP and thousands of Colour of Lumina in a single fight.

There Are Many Other Ways To Farm XP & Colour Of Lumina In Clair Obscur

You Don't Need A Glitch To Level Up Fast

While the above exploit is likely to get patched out, there are plenty of other ways to farm both XP and Colour of Lumina. Notably, there are some specific enemies throughout Act 3 that reliably drop Colour of Lumina after you've killed them the first time. This includes a Clair Obscur enemy in The Monolith that can be farmed for 5x Colour of Lumina each fight, but you'll need to have a reliable one-shot build to do this efficiently.

There's also the merchant in Renoir's Drafts named Grour who you can fight repeatedly for 2x Colour of Lumina each fight, though at this point you'll likely be leveled up considerably and may already have plenty of Colour of Lumina to buff your entire party for the tougher fights in the game. Ultimately, you can find Colour of Lumina all over the place in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and farming it isn't strictly necessary unless you are simply trying to maximize the amount of Lumina on each character.
