10 Best Kept Secrets In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
There's no shortage of secrets and mysteries in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and you might be surprised at what lies hidden around the Continent.
Exploring Frozen Hearts will also allow you to complete another White Nevron side quest, the Danseuse Teacher. This quest will put your parrying skills to the ultimate test, requiring you to face off against the Danseuse Teacher and perform a final counterattack to complete the challenge. This will reward you with a fancy new outfit for Lune, and you should avoid fighting the Danseuse Teacher afterwards in order to collect a bunch of Colour of Luminas from Blanche later on, though you'll need to avoid killing all the White Nevrons to collect it.
Additionally, there is a Mime that rewards Lune's short haircut, a Petank that will drop the usual Petank rewards, and there are two Paint Cages that can be opened for the Anti-Freeze Pictos as well as a Revive Tint Shard. There is also a Manor Door in Frozen Hearts that will let you grab the "Clea! Don't Pull Your Sister's Hair!" record in Clair Obscur.
How To Get The Eternal Ice From Frozen Hearts In Clair Obscur
The Eternal Ice Is Rewarded After Defeating The Gargant In Frozen Hearts
When you interact with the Grandis Merchant in Monoco's Station, unlike other merchants that you simply have to fight to unlock their inventory, you'll see that it's necessary to complete a side quest to get to the Grandis Merchant's. Speaking with the Grandis will reveal that you need to track down the Eternal Ice, which is acquired from the final boss in Frozen Hearts. The Grandis Merchant's inventory includes the following items once you retrieve the Eternal Ice:
Pictos |
Weapons |
---|---|
You'll have to travel all the way to the end of Frozen Hearts to get the Eternal Ice and fight the Gargant enemy at the end. This is a unique giant enemy that can alternate resistances/weaknesses based on which stance it is in. If it's in an Ice Stance, it will be resistant to Ice attacks and weak to fire attacks, while a Fire Stance will do the opposite. Defeating the Gargant will award you with the Snowim weapon for Lune, the
Anti-Burn Pictos, and, of course, the Eternal Ice, which you can return to the Grandis Merchant and access its full inventory.
Why You Should Definitely Explore Frozen Hearts
It's Worth The XP & Loot, And The Danseuse Teacher Is Great Parry Practice
Frozen Hearts is an optional area only if you don't care much about getting the full Clair Obscur experience. There are too many unique enemies and great rewards to this area over, and you'll have the entire Grandis Merchant's inventory available on top of the loot you find in Frozen Hearts. There is also a another pesky Petank, meaning you'll get some useful upgrade materials as well. Further, there are a ton of new outfits and haircuts acquired in Frozen Hearts, from the Danseuse Teacher, a merchant named Verogo, etc.
Keep Monoco in your active party during Frozen Hearts to unlock a handful of his unique skills in Clair Obscur.
Unless you're simply trying to finish the game as soon as possible, I highly recommend taking the time to travel into Frozen Hearts and clear the area in its entirety if possible. Aside from it being a beautifully designed location, the associated rewards are too plentiful to up. The Grandis Merchant in Monoco's Station has some of the best possible gear at this stage in the game, and retrieving the Eternal Ice is well worth the trip into Frozen Hearts in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
