Chucky season 3 has been renewed at Syfy and USA Network. The horror series, created by Don Mancini, serves as a sequel to 2017's Cult of Chucky, tracking the evil doll and his string of murders in Hackensack, New Jersey, after 14-year-old Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur) picks him up at a local yard sale. Premiering back in 2021, the show has garnered largely positive reactions from both critics and longtime fans of the Child's Play franchise, with many praising its creativity and the return of Brad Dourif, who reprises his role as Chucky/Charles Lee Ray. Following a notable debut and impressive ratings over the course of its first two seasons, Chucky has proven that its titular character is just as popular as ever.
After the Chucky season 2 finale aired back in November, fans have been left wondering about the show's future.
Per Collider, the horror series has officially been renewed for a season 3, with Syfy and USA Network sharing the news during the Television Critics Association's 2023 Winter Press Tour. In a statement from Mancini, the creator thanks the fans for their and teased that it will be Chucky's scariest season yet. Read Mancini's comments regarding the renewal of Chucky below:
"The cast and crew of ‘Chucky’ would like to thank fans and critics alike for their overwhelming response to season two, which we’re delighted to announce has now spurred the official greenlight on season three. This news has made Chucky very happy. Thank Damballa for that because otherwise Chucky would have been frankly impossible to deal with. Many thanks also to our partners at SYFY, USA and U for helping us keep Chucky busy. See you in 2023 for what Chucky himself promises will be his scariest season ever."
What To Expect From Chucky Season 3
Chucky viewers last saw what appeared to be the end of the killer doll, when Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind) used a chainsaw on him following the death of her mother. She, Jake, and Devon (Björgvin Arnarson) then turned their attention towards Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly), but were stopped by Caroline, who told them they will regret what they did. They decide to tell Miss Fairchild (Annie M. Briggs) about Chucky and in the final minutes of "Chucky Actually," audiences are given a cliffhanger regarding the fate of Tiffany. After being threatened by Nica (Fiona Dourif), she attempts to possess the Belle doll, but it is revealed to be Chucky, who is actually alive.
There is currently no set date for the premiere of Chucky season 3, but audiences can expect the show to return in the fall. As for the cast, Dourif, Arthur, Arnarson, and Lind should all be back for the new episodes, along with Briggs, who could have a bigger role moving forward. While Chucky approached Tiffany with a knife, it is safe to assume Tilly's character is not dead and will still be a part of Chucky season 3, especially given her phone call with Nica. The evil doll will likely continue targeting the kids, but after he claimed Glen and Glenda needed to be punished, it is worth wondering if those two will be featured again.
With both Glen and Glenda possessing the same doll, and Tiffany asserting that they are dead, it will be interesting to see if they return in Chucky season 3. Caroline may also be heavily involved in episodes, having been corrupted by Chucky and seemingly pleased by his reveal at the end of the season 2 finale. As the show continues to expand the Child's Play series, there are bound to be more exciting moments for fans, who tend to enjoy its humor and all the gory deaths. If last season was any indication, earning the franchise's highest Rotten Tomatoes score, Chucky season 3 will likely be just as entertaining.
