Based on the seasonal airings each holiday season, Christmas Vacation has only grown in popularity as a new generation got in on the fun. While a TV sequel titled National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2 was developed, it didn't match the level of quality of the original, leaving most fans clamoring for the original every December. In the era of streaming, that means fans have to be on the lookout for which platform it is available on.

Christmas Vacation Is Currently Available On Hulu And Max

While it has been difficult to find in the past, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is now widely available on Hulu just in time for the holidays. Hulu has been getting ready for fans eager to watch their old Christmas favorites with several big titles being added to the platform on November 27, including Elf and The Polar Express. Christmas Vacation is also available on Max, providing two big platforms for fans to watch on.

Hulu is available for subscription at two pricing tiers. There is an ad-ed option for s which comes in at $9.99/month or $99.99/year. There is also an ad-free option for $18.99/month. Both options feature the same library of movies and TV shows, meaning Christmas Vacation will be available on either one. Meanwhile, Max has three pricing tiers, with the ad-ed option for $9.99/month or $99.99/year, the ad-free option for $16.99/month or $169.99/year, and the Ultimate ad-free option (includes 4K streaming) for $20.99/month or $209.99/year.

Where To Rent Or Buy Christmas Vacation?

The Film Is Always Available Through These Means

For those who are willing to pay for their annual Christmas viewing without a subscription, there are several more options. The film can be rented or purchased on Apple TV, Amazon, or Microsoft. On each of these services, Christmas Vacation can be rented for $3.99. All of these platforms also have the option to buy the movie with purchase prices in the range of $9.99-$14.99.

Generally speaking, rentals are available for 30 days, although they may need to be completed within 48 hours of being started. Those who only want to watch the movie once would be best off renting it, but if it is a holiday tradition, buying a copy will pay off in less than three years. Either way, there are plenty of options for viewers to catch Christmas Vacation before the holiday season comes to an end.

What About The Other National Lampoon Vacation Films?

There Are Six Vacation Movies In Total

While Christmas Vacation tends to be the most popular installment in the Vacation saga, it can be fun to marathon them all. Unfortunately, the other movies in the franchise are not featured alongside Christmas Vacation on Hulu and Max, but the other films in the original series are available together. Beginning with the original, 1983's National Lampoon's Vacation is currently available to stream on MGM+, along with the first sequel, National Lampoon's European Vacation, and the fourth movie, Vegas Vacation.

The 2015 reboot of the franchise, starring Ed Helms and Christina Applegate, is available on Max. However, when it comes to the oft-forgotten Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure, it is only available for rental on Apple TV for $3.99 or for purchase for $7.99.

The third installment in the National Lampoon's Vacation series, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, stars Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold, father of the Griswold family whose intentions to have a good Christmas with his family face several setbacks. Between his arguing parents, the uncooperative decorations, and the unexpected arrival of some unwanted distant relatives, Clark's dreams for a wonderful Christmas seem to be fading, forcing him to take some comedically drastic measures.
