Director Chris Columbus reveals a potential The Christmas Chronicles' end-credits scene left fans with the revelation that Mrs. Claus is none other than Russell's real life wife Goldie Hawn, pushing the door wide open for more stories in this world.

While speaking to ComicBook.com, Columbus entertained the possibility of a Christmas Chronicles 3, which isn't happening just yet. Columbus itted he doesn't fully know what a third movie would look like, but acknowledged that "we're certainly set up to open up this world even more." In that sense, there's a thread from The Christmas Chronicles 2 that Columbus hinted could become the basis of a third film. He said:
"There's a poignant moment in the movie where they're watching the kids making snow angels, and Mrs. Claus says, 'It's so nice to have real children in the village again.' But you're like, 'We never explain why she feels that way. There's some sort of hidden, slightly dark, melancholy thing in their past that we don't know about.' And I love the fact that we don't deal with it in this movie. It's in some of the notes that Kurt wrote. We know what it is. Maybe it connects if we're lucky enough to do a third."
When Columbus said this information is in Russell's notes, he's likely referring to the actor's own prep work. Columbus previously revealed Russell wrote 200 pages of Santa's backstory, delving into things like how he met Mrs. Claus. If he went that deep into the mythology, it's no surprise that Russell would've devised a story for the North Pole's lack of children, particularly since it impacts his wife so much. It could be interesting to devote The Christmas Chronicles 3 to filling in that story, or perhaps creating a new one with that tale as the foundation.
Beyond that, there's a chance Russell's detailed notes could contain other ideas for The Christmas Chronicles 3.
