Marvel Studios' founding heroes will always have a special place in the fandom's heart, so even when some are no longer in the MCU, longtime franchise loyalists still them in their post-Marvel endeavors. That includes Evans with his latest personal accolade, but as it turns out, even his former MCU co-stars are thrilled about it, although a few of them didn't miss the opportunity to poke fun at it.
Hemsworth, who People once hailed as Sexiest Man Alive before Evans, reveals how the original Avengers chat reacted to the Captain America actor's latest award. During his guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote his new Disney+ series, Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, he shares that the text thread quickly lit up to mock Evans' new magazine cover. Can The Original Avengers Still Reunite In The MCU?
As previously mentioned, the original Avengers will always have a special place in the MCU because they spearheaded the franchise's first years. Marvel Studios did a great job exploring and developing their group dynamics, and after years of working closely together, the actors also developed a strong friendship off the screen, and this active chat thread proves that. That being said, there are currently no plans for an Avengers reunion in MCU, especially as Marvel Studios is busy building the Multiverse Saga. Given this, Kevin Feige and his team are prioritizing establishing new players in the franchise as they become the next faces of the MCU.
Despite this, there have been persistent rumors that Marvel is planning to bring back some retired original Avengers to the franchise, particularly Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark and Evans' Steve Rogers. In light of becoming the Sexiest Man Alive awardee of 2022, Evans its that he misses playing Captain America. While this isn't any indication that he will be back in the MCU sometime soon, it increases the chances that he will be willing to reprise the role in case Marvel calls him - which may not be totally out of the question with Avengers: Secret Wars currently in the works.
Now that Marvel Studios continues to stay mum about a potential original Avengers reunion, it's best to focus on the MCU's current storytelling. Knowing that the franchise's founding actors are still in touch with each other is already a treat, although hopefully, they talk more about it moving forward. In any case, fans aren't the only one calling for a reunion, as both Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo have jokingly referenced. Perhaps with a bit more urging, Feige and his team will finally do something about it.
