A new look at Jason Momoa in Chief of War has arrived as Apple TV+ confirms the show's release window. Now, Apple TV+ shares a trailer for its summer 2025 slate of TV shows, showing off footage from Chief of War. Though brief, the footage features Momoa's character dropping his weapons as he stands in front of an army, while another shot shows him speaking with a fellow warrior, saying: "I fought to get back home to protect my family. No more running." Finally, the footage includes a shot of warriors throwing spears into the air. Check out the trailer below:
Apple next shared a dedicated video for Chief of War, confirming that the show will premiere on August 1. The footage shows Momoa's character donning a decorative red cape, of sorts, before being handed a wooden weapon and putting on a helmet. Watch the extended Chief of War footage below:

Jason Momoa switches between indie efforts like Road To Paloma and blockbusters like Aquaman, but what are the Sweet Girl star's best movies?
The shot of Momoa standing before an army on a cliffside speaks to the kind of epic scale audiences can expect from Chief of War, proving once again that Apple spares no expense when it comes to its original shows and movies. Chief of War is also looking like a significant departure from See, with Momoa's previous Apple TV+ show taking place in a dystopian future where the human race no longer has the power of sight.
Though Chief of War takes place in Hawaii, the show was actually filmed extensively in New Zealand.

See, too, which earned generally positive reviews, affirmed that Momoa can also deliver serious and powerful performances.
Given Apple's history, it's likely that Chief of War will have had the budget to pull off some ambitious sequences, including epic battles. See, too, which earned generally positive reviews, affirmed that Momoa can also deliver serious and powerful performances. If Chief of War can balance epic action and scale with intimate character moments and a compelling exploration of real Hawaiian history, it could be a winner for the streamer and for Momoa.
