In the wake of the Chicago Med season 10 finale, Asher came to with the shocking news that she was pregnant. At first, many viewers assumed that Mitch Ripley was the father of Asher's baby, given that they had dated for the majority of season 10. However, the hour ended with Asher on Archer's doorstep, and the scene implied that he was the baby's father.

While speaking with Deadline at the ATX Television Festival, Weber addressed what comes next for his Chicago Med character in season 11. Of course, he couldn't ignore season 10's surprising cliffhanger. Weber revealed that "it's most likely that Archer is the father" of Asher's child, but he wouldn't give a definitive answer (of course). Still, Weber theorized how his character, as an older man, would feel if he fathered the baby in question, and how Archer and Asher would handle a co-parenting situation. Check out Weber's quote below:

Deadline: Do you believe Archer will have any hesitation in wanting to be an older parent?

Steven Weber: He'd be 64 or 65 by the time this kid is born, but luckily, I'm in great shape. With that said, at any second, he could slip and fracture his head. There's an ongoing conversation about older parents, especially older fathers. I have a couple of friends who are older fathers, who may not be around long enough, but on the other hand, they possess a kind of wisdom and love that a younger parent might not have, so it's a trade-off. I think it's one of his concerns, but he's also feeling things for the first time that he hadn't felt for years, which is a genuine love for Hannah. It's not a romantic love, it's a deeper, kind of interesting personal connection that has to do with vulnerability and a feeling of safety. I think that's motivating him, or that could motivate him to want to be involved with this child, because he's believing in himself more. Thanks, in no small part, to Hannah.

Deadline: So if it's not a romantic love, would Archer and Asher raise this baby more in a co-parenting situation?

Weber: I think more of a co-parenting thing. They're both acutely aware of their strengths and their weaknesses. I think it would be very important for him to let Hannah take the lead here, especially with her issues with her sister's inability to have a child and all that stuff, and her issues with being parented, probably harshly and unhealthily. I think it's more of a co-parenting situation, but again, you never know.

What Steven Weber's Comments Mean For Archer & Asher In Chicago Med Season 11

Is Archer Actually The Father Of Asher's Baby?

Although Weber didn't come right out and say that Archer was the father of Asher's baby in Chicago Med, he might as well have. Things could change come season 11. However, for now, it's safe to assume that Archer is, in fact, the father. Weber is adamant that Archer doesn't have romantic feelings for Asher, though, despite them having a one-time fling, meaning that this baby wouldn't be the catalyst to them becoming a couple (sorry, Archer and Asher shippers).

When Chicago Med season 11 premieres, fans seemingly shouldn't expect Archer and Asher to engage in a romance. Instead, according to Weber, they will likely simply be co-parents. Anything could happen, but by all s, it appears like Archer and Asher's relationship will stay platonic as they plan how to navigate this new journey.

Our Take On Archer & Asher's Future In Chicago Med Season 11

Archer & Asher Will Have A Strong Connection No Matter What

Dean Archer and Hannah Asher in Chicago Med season 10

Even if Archer is the father of Asher's baby and the two decide to remain friends and co-parents, the Chicago Med duo will always be close. They undoubtedly have one of the strongest connections in the One Chicago TV show. Having a baby shouldn't change that. Going forward, we should all assume that Archer and Asher's story arc will come with many challenges, but at the end of the day, their relationship should remain durable. Only time will tell how it all plays out in Chicago Med season 11, though.

Chicago Med season 11 will premiere in fall 2025, airing new episodes on Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on NBC, preceding Chicago Fire season 14 and Chicago PD season 13.
