Warning: SPOILERS for Chicago Med season 10, episode 11, "...Don't You Cry."

Over half the characters left the Chicago Med season 10 finale nearly causes whiplash with some of its end reveals.

This is something Chicago Med arguably does better than other One Chicago series, such as with the gut-punching reveal of Sully’s death earlier in Chicago Med season 10. But as entertaining as they can be, the hardest part of Chicago Med’s twists is waiting to see how they eventually play out. And given some of the more effective twists and reveals in the season 10 finale, fans are in for a long summer while awaiting answers in Chicago Med season 11.

8 Will Goodwin’s Attacker Get Out Of Prison After Chicago Med Season 10?

Cassidy’s Doing Everything She’d Need To Get Parole

As a solid demonstration of why Chicago Med is NBC’s top-rated drama, season 10 began with a disaster that affected the rest of the season. Gaffney struggled to provide enough blood transfusions for their patients after a shipwreck flooded the team with patients, and Goodwin’s handling of the situation resulted in her being stalked and subsequently stabbed by a patient’s widow in the fall finale. Sharon’s would-be murderer, Cassidy, is now behind bars, but she makes an unexpected appearance at the very start of the Chicago Med season 10 finale.

Sharon's Most Powerful Chicago Med Season 10 Story Had A Cop Out Ending

Chicago Med season 10, episode 20 set up a strong story for Sharon, only to rush to a conclusion and waste all of the carefully built-up potential.

Cassidy tries to tell Goodwin that she regrets her actions now that she’s on anti-psychotic medication and currently embracing religion, but Sharon’s not interested in hearing what Cassidy has to say. What’s interesting is Cassidy’s apparent remorse and active efforts to change could eventually qualify her for parole. Since she committed a violent felony, she’d probably have to serve a significant portion of her sentence first. However, the crew can find a justification for springing her early if it’s decided that she still has a story left to tell.

7 Will Lizzy Forgive Hannah’s Pregnancy?

Her Reaction To The News Was A Bit Harsh

From the moment Asher’s pregnancy was revealed, one of the lingering questions was how her sister would take the news. Lizzy held a long grudge against Hannah because of her former heroin addiction. But Hannah’s done everything from paying for IVF to offering herself as a surrogate to help Lizzy become a mother. Unfortunately, it’s not easy to become a surrogate when there’s already a bun in the oven. In fact, Hannah only learned she was pregnant in the first place when she was told she didn’t qualify for surrogacy.

Lizzy’s clearly emotional and simply lashing out, but that’s never resolved by the end of the finale.

Hannah does promise to go through with the surrogacy after she delivers her baby, but Lizzy reasonably points out that Hannah will be too busy raising a child at that point. Less reasonably, Lizzy refers to Asher’s pregnancy as “typical Hannah” and suggests she never should have trusted her sister at all. Lizzy’s clearly emotional and simply lashing out, but that’s never resolved by the end of the finale. Whether she’ll move on and Hannah during this life transition remains to be seen, but hopefully, their relationship will end up back on the right track.

6 Will Charles Make Right With His Daughters?

He’ll Have To Keep A Pretty Big Promise Now

After the death of Daniel Charles’ mother, her funeral revealed how little he appears to know about his daughters’ lives. He had no idea his older daughter Robin had been in regular with her grandmother and recently discovered Anna dropped out of Stanford and returned to Chicago weeks ago without telling him. When she wraps her car around a tree in the Chicago Med season 10 finale, he learns Anna left school because she’s been dealing with untreated depression, causing her to feel abnormal and isolated from her classmates.

Why Did Noah Sexton Leave Chicago Med? Roland Buck III's Exit From One Chicago Explained

April’s brother, Noah Sexton, left Chicago Med during season 6, but Roland Buck III reprised his role in a later episode of the NBC medical drama.

Anna and Robin tell Charles how they find it difficult to open up to him because he has a habit of speaking to them like a psychiatrist rather than a father. Once Anna’s on the road to recovery, Dr. Charles promises he’ll do more listening than talking when she’s facing personal issues in the future. In theory, this is a great progress for their relationship. But with all 3 One Chicago series renewed for future seasons, Charles will have to live up to that promise before his relationship with his daughters is truly on proven footing.

5 Is Ainsley Truly Gone For Good After Chicago Med Season 10?

She Disappeared Almost Too Easily

Caitlin Lenox’s Chicago Med romance with Hayes may have been problematic, but it’s practically nothing compared to the relationship between John Frost and his childhood costar, Ainsley Towne. When she comes to Gaffney to study Maggie for an acting role, it’s revealed Frost was groomed into starting a physical relationship with Ainsley while he was still underage. It took him time to it what happened was wrong, largely because he was worried about losing what he perceived to be a strong emotional bond.

Charles Exposes The 1 Thing That Frost Needs To Do To Move On From Ainsley In Chicago Med Season 10

Frost and Ainsley’s story on Chicago Med might seem to be over, but Charles hints at one last thing that needs to happen before season 10 concludes.

After a heart-to-heart talk with Charles, Frost finally its that he wasn’t comfortable with Ainsley taking advantage of him. He confronts Ainsley about it and asks her to stay out of his life, marking her last appearance to date. However, problematic figures from the main characters’ histories tend to pop up again when they’re least desired. Ainsley might worry about Frost outing her and getting her career canceled, but she also seems to have a romantic interest in him that borders on obsession. It’s plausible she might be back again at some point.

4 Where Are John Frost’s Parents In Chicago Med Season 10?

He Doesn’t Seem To Love Talking About Them

Not long after Ainsley’s arrival, Frost started losing it with patients’ families whose parenting skills he felt needed improvement. He chastised two influencers for asking their fans for advice when their son was hurt, and his talk with Charles about Ainsley occurred after he began visibly crying over a young patient’s mother abandoning him. It seemed at first like Frost’s reactions were based on his fictional mother-son relationship with Ainsley, but that merely raises the question of where his actual parents were when that relationship was getting out of hand in the first place.

Sharon's Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 19 Romance Issue Is A Disservice To Her Character Arc

Chicago Med season 10, episode 19 gave Sharon a meaty romantic story, but her conflict with Dennis also did a disservice to her character arc.

1

Frost has several reasons to be affected by his lung transplant patient, Noah, but he seems to react with particular unease when Noah mentions hiding his readiness to on because he doesn’t want to hurt his parents. While it’s normal to feel discomfort about a child saying they’re ready to die, it seems that Frost either identifies with Noah or perhaps even envies his family’s closeness. His expressed iration for Noah’s father taking hostages to fight for his son seems to imply the latter. However, until Frost speaks about his parents directly, their relationship remains a mystery.

3 When Will Caitlin’s Prion Symptoms Develop In Chicago Med?

And Will Kip Find Out That She Lied To Him?

There have been several reasons given for why Caitlin Lenox seems so detached, but a big one is that she’s shouldering the fear of eventually succumbing to the same prion disease that took her mother. When her brother Kip starts developing similar symptoms, they both get tested for Gerstmann-Sträussler-Scheinker disease. Kip’s results are negative, and Caitlin lies to him about her results before the eventual reveal that she did test positive for GSS. Considering GSS has an average five-year life expectancy after detection, she’s now on a ticking clock.

It seems unlikely that she’d start falling ill as soon as next season, but that could also become her primary character arc.

Kip doesn’t know his sister is living on borrowed time, but that will get pretty difficult to hide if she starts showing symptoms. It might feel hasty if she started falling ill as soon as next season, but that could also become her primary character arc. There’s also the question of whether Lenox can work once she starts showing symptoms, leading to a concern that her tenure on the series might be regrettably short. Whatever happens next, every second of Caitlin’s screentime is now wrapped in suspense until her disease makes itself impossible to ignore.

2 Will Ripley Prioritize Sadie Over Hannah In Chicago Med Season 11?

Their Chemistry Together Is Virtually Undeniable

There are times when the drama in Chicago Med becomes so intense that it almost feels as if Gaffney were built on the haunted burial ground of an old daytime soap opera set. Mitch Ripley’s relationship with Hannah has exemplified that several times over. Nonetheless, Ripley may have a new romantic interest now, as former patient Sadie Smith tracks down Mitch at his house to see him again after he saved her life several episodes prior. He seems excited to see her, and it’s clear that he’s ed her since their first meeting.

Chicago Med Just Proved Why Hannah Cannot Be With Dean After Her Relationship With Mitch

Season 10, episode 17 of Chicago Med largely focuses on Dean Archer, but it may also contain messages about Hannah’s most desirable romantic future.

2

When she first appeared in season 10, episode 15, Sadie seemed like a one-off character, but while being trapped in a well and Ripley performing a field amputation on her leg, the flirting between them hardly ceased throughout the episode. Holly Curran and Luke Mitchell have strong enough onscreen chemistry that their characters could make a convincing couple, and Ripley does seem to have largely moved on from Asher (and from Lynne, as well). However, the answer to one last question could have a significant impact on whether Mitch and Sadie wind up together.

1 Who’s The Father Of Hannah Asher’s Baby?

Did Chicago Med Season 10 End On A Red Herring?

When Hannah shows up at Dean Archer’s door at the end of the Chicago Med season 10 finale, saying she needs to talk, it seems very much like a confirmation that he’s the father of her child. The timeline also seems to match up with the night she went over to Dean’s house to make him dinner after his wife died, but that doesn’t mean Ripley isn’t still in the running. Early in the finale, she talks to Dean about raising children and seems slightly dismayed when he questions whether parenthood is worthwhile.

Chicago Med Boss Fuels Hannah & Archer Romance Theories After Asher's Pregnancy Twist

Chicago Med revealed Asher’s pregnancy ahead of the season 10 finale, and showrunner Allen MacDonald teases the identity of Hannah's baby's father.

1

Lizzy’s reaction to Hannah’s pregnancy only muddles the waters. Many fans noticed Asher doesn’t correct her sister when she seemingly assumes the baby is Mitch’s, but others realized that she didn’t confirm Lizzy’s assumption, either. Some even suspect that Archer’s son could be a silent candidate, although Chicago Med hasn’t developed much of a relationship between him and Hannah. Whatever the answer happens to be, the father of Hannah’s child should make for a lively debate on discussion forums until the start of season 11.
