Chainsaw Man Part Two has been packed to the brim with mysteries. From its very opening chapter, the series has given away just enough without letting readers in on the big picture, leaving fans in a constant state of suspense and sometimes even confusion. This sort of storytelling isn't exactly new for author Tatsuki Fujimoto, who has always sprinkled in a bit of surreal mystery into his works, but never has it been more effective than in Chainsaw Man's second part.

This meticulous method of slowly unraveling a bigger narrative often allows major reveals to leave an even bigger impact on fans, while forcing them to question whether what they've seen is actually fact or part of an even bigger unraveling mystery. This is exactly what took place in the Chainsaw Man community when the death of Nayuta was revealed all the way back in chapter #170, "How to Eat Sushi". Despite her head literally being served on a platter, many held out hope she was still alive. But a recent reveal suggests that isn't the case.

The Latest Volume's Character Information Page Confirms Nayuta Was Killed

As Chainsaw Man reaches what is seemingly the climax for Part Two, Volume #20, featuring Asa on the cover, was released in Japan. As with all manga volumes, a character information spread is included before the story begins, and offers brief descriptions of the cast as well as recent happenings around them. Unfortunately, for those who held out hope that Nayuta survived, her profile plainly describes her as being killed by the Chainsaw Man Church's schemes, as X D_Kumii translated in a post.

Given that her disembodied head was propped up as a display piece in an effort to bring out the real Chainsaw Man, it should have been pretty obvious this was the case. However, with stories written by Fujimoto, nothing can ever be truly certain until it's spelled out on the page. And even then, given recent developments in Chainsaw Man, it might be unwise to rule anything out.

Chainsaw Man's Recent Developments Might Still Leave a Shred of Hope

A Recent Major Plot Twist Suggests Fans Shouldn't Rule Anything Out

Just when the Chainsaw Man community thinks they have things figured out, the series does a few backflips and twists itself in an entirely new direction, as seen in the most recent chapter #198, "It's Fami!". Revealing who fans believed to be the Famine Devil is actually the big bad Death Devil, the latest twist recontextualizes just about the entirety of Part Two. It's still unclear what role, if any, the former Fami played in Chainsaw Man Church, though its schemes aligned with her goal of powering up Yoru and Pochita.

If she was involved, it might not make sense for her to be somewhat responsible for the death of her sister, once again leaving the door open to the possibility that Nayuta is still alive somehow. Chainsaw Man, following its latest major twist, seems just about ready to answer many of the questions that still remain in the series, and given Yoru's prediction that Control will appear to greet Death, fans will just have to wait and see if it's Nayuta who makes herself known.
