Chainsaw Man has been progressing at a rapid pace for some time, making its way towards a finale that is sure to be as wild and unpredictable as the rest of Tatsuki Fujimoto's masterpiece series. With all its pieces in place: Denji and Asa finally being together, Yoru cooking up plans for her own world domination, and no one left to oppose Chainsaw and War, it seems the time for that finale has come.
Throughout the entirety of Chainsaw Man's methodical Part Two, a presence called the Death Devil has loomed over the narrative from the shadows. The final horseman and eldest sister of the apocalypse, prophecies foretold of the Death Devil descending onto Earth and bringing about the end of humanity, and finally, she has appeared.
Chainsaw Man's Final Devil Has Arrived
On first appearance, the Death Devil didn't come off as very intimidating. However, the latest chapter #196, "Chainsaw Man to the Rescue!", hints at her staggering power. By raising her hand to the head of another student, she promised to free him of the suffering of life by means of death. From a narrative standpoint, it makes sense that the final horseman has just now arrived. Yoru, since receiving her massive power-up and new weapon arms, has wreaked havoc throughout Tokyo, causing mass death and destruction.

"Worse Than Humanity's Extinction": Chainsaw Man Teases the War Devil's True Endgame
Devils in Chainsaw Man don’t just represent physical threats but also deep psychological fears.
However, the Death Devil may not be entirely as evil as her name implies. Her initial introduction in the previous chapter #195 saw the final horseman claim to want to "save everyone", and she continues that sort of dialogue throughout the latest entry as well. It's likely she descended onto Earth in response to Yoru's violence, and truly believes that death is the only salvation from the War Devil's conquest of terror. In her mind, what she plans to do is right, though Chainsaw Man will need to stop her anyway.
The Death Devil Leaves No Doubt About Her Identity
Theories About a Different True Identity Have Seemingly Been Debunked
Upon her introduction, the Chainsaw Man community was taken aback by the supposed Death Devil's appearance. Rather than a monstrous creature deserving of her moniker, she was simply another high school student with the unmistakable horseman eyes. This subversion of expectations led to theories about her potentially being the latest reincarnation of the Control Devil, who is currently the only other horseman uned for. However, after her display of power in chapter #196, there should be no doubt that she's the series' final devil.
With a name as powerful as hers and the supposed ability to kill all she touches, Denji will have a difficult time securing victory this time around. The series' protagonist is powerful, but still pales in comparison to primal fears. On top of the Death Devil, Yoru is also a loose cannon and liable to cause havoc at any time. Chainsaw Man is seemingly entering its final stretch, and the series' titular hero will have his hands full in the coming battle. Knowing him, though, Denji will surely find a way to survive.
