What Catwoman's Costume Change Means For Her Character
Catwoman #68 Main Cover With Her Iconic Purple Costume By David Nakayama
Coming from her previous issue, Catwoman had been wearing a resurrected version of her iconic purple Catwoman costume which, while famous, did little to protect her (and left little to the readers' imagination). The fun throwback served as a fitting farewell to the creative team of Tini Howard and Carmine Di Giandomenico, after a run that saw major changes for Catwoman. Not the least of which was the introduction of Catwoman's own Cat-Family, and surprising superpowers. But it was only a detour until Selina Kyle came back to what really worked for her.

Catwoman Finally Has a Costume as Good as Batman's (& It's a Direct Challenge to Cosplayers)
DC's latest Catwoman redesign, from "Batman: Dark Age," will immediately inspire cosplayers, with its realistic, eminently re-creatable look.
Catwoman is a non-powered thief, first and foremost, and as this series promises a more down-to-earth mystery, it seems that Catwoman is finally coming home. To show this, Catwoman slips into a prototype bodysuit, offering protection and stealth when breaking and entering, and trying to stick to the shadows.
Our Take on Catwoman's New Uniform
Homare Variant Cover for Catwoman #69
As readers can see for themselves, Selina's new costume not only makes sense for her line of work, but it looks good on her too. What's more, it is a physical symbol of the ushering in of the change of Catwoman, as she returns to her thieving roots and becomes a modern criminal. Built out fo an unknown substance, it's believable that it's more than simple fabric, leather, or spandex. With structured shoulders and cowls reminding readers that this Catwoman is skilled in a fight, but must take care not to be injured, the new suit blends classic and modern with effortless skill.
It's hard to overlook how Catwoman's new costume marks a change in her character's journey, as Torunn Grønbekk's Catwoman is a departure from Tini Howard's previous story arc that involved the goddess Bast, Catwoman's nine supernatural lives, and a shard of meterorite lodged in her head. This is a much simpler Catwoman, back in black and back to the basics, a criminal through and through, with a title that sees more mystery and intrigue in the pages instead of high-stakes superhero battles.
Catwoman #69 is on sale now from DC Comics.
