Castlevania: Nocturne Cast & Character Guide
Adapting Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night, Neflix's Castlevania: Nocturne includes a robust cast to voice the classic characters.
Maria Summons A Dragon In The Castlevania Video Games
In the video game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, Maria starts off as a somewhat bratty and pampered 12-year-old aristocrat who always expects things to go her way. Despite this, she also shows an uncanny desire to willingly combat any vampiric threats to her or her loved ones. However, her bravery is in vain as her first meeting with protagonist Richter Belmont sees her being rescued from imprisonment via the whip-wielding hero.
Richter initially dismisses Maria's request to him on her journey, telling her that she's too young and could easily get captured again or killed. However, after throwing a tantrum, Maria accidentally summons a powerful dragon thus prompting Richter to change his mind. While this ability wasn't shown in Castlevania: Nocturne season 1, she was shown developing her various other magical abilities throughout its eight episodes. With season 2 on the way, it's very possible that the writers have already planned Maria's dragon summon in Castlevania: Nocturne, and will show it at some point.

Castlevania: Nocturne Ending Explained
From the return of a beloved Castlevania character to Erzsebet Báthory’s plan, here is Castlevania: Nocturne season 1’s ending explained.
Castlevania: Nocturne Has Shown Maria Summoning Other Animals
Castlevania: Nocturne has also demonstrated that it's building toward a big moment for Maria by showing the wide range of animals she's already capable of summoning. In the first season, Maria is shown summoning a black turtle, a white tiger, and a series of vermilion red birds to impressive effect. Not only was this a great way to add variety to Maria's repertoire, but it was also a cool reference to the Four Symbols prominently featured in Chinese Mythology.
Of the four, audiences have only seen three, with the fourth symbol being the Azure Dragon of the East. Not only is this a great reference to Chinese mythology, but it's also a slick way to imply to viewers familiar with the original video games that Maria will indeed eventually learn how to summon a dragon. Given the show's reputation for updating the characters for modern audiences, it's safe to assume Maria will summon the blue beast through much better means than seen in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood.

Castlevania: Nocturne Depicts Maria Growing Into Her Powers
Maria is one of the best characters in Castlevania: Nocturne because she's well-written and depicted as someone who is both strong and comionate. Throughout the first season, Maria expresses to Richter and Annette how important it is to her that they achieve their goals in the Revolutionary army. Moreover, Maria also expresses the importance of their defeating the Vampire Messiah. Not one just for words, Maria puts her money where her mouth is and displays a great aptitude to not only concoct stronger magical abilities but also to be more in tune with the creatures she summons — effectively hinting at how powerful she can be.
While she's seen utilizing more basic and rudimentary versions of her magical abilities early in the season, she eventually reaches a point during the climactic battle where she can overwhelm nearly anyone in combat. The series has already shown how much it is willing to deviate from the source material to tell as compelling a story as possible. With the subtle references to Chinese Mythology and Maria constantly honing her abilities over time, Castlevania: Nocturne is definitely building toward something incredible in season 2.
