In the fallout of most sinister characters in Marvel Comics, and the new series will give Carnage a heroic turn, but the alien being’s sadistic style is sticking around.
The preview for Eddie Brock: Carnage #1 – written by Charles Soule, with art by Jesús Saiz – introduces the former Venom host’s creepy new status quo, as Carnage also adjusts to life without Cletus Kasady. Eddie and Carnage’s bond sees the symbiote gain a heroic new mission, going from hosting a serial killer to hunting them down.
Eddie and Carnage reached powerful new heights in the midst of Venom War, but they now rely on each other for strength and their new purpose in Marvel’s future. With the hero forced to team-up with “symbiote Satan”, the duo find a dark compromise.
Marvel's Most Sinister Symbiote Levels Up: Carnage Becomes A Superhero That Slaughters Serial Killers
Eddie Brock: Carnage #1 – Written By Charles Soule; Art By Jesús Saiz; Color By Matt Hollingsworth; Lettering By VC’s Joe Sabino
It was already revealed that Eddie Brock: Carnage would revolve around the former Venom host dealing with his latest symbiote situation by hunting down and even eating serial killers, which is at least slightly more heroic than Carnage’s usual antics, but the first issue’s preview shows that the symbiote’s superhero turn will be as spine-chilling as ever. Setting up extremely high stakes for the series’ first mission, Eddie has to sniff out the identity of a killer - presumably before Carnage starts indiscriminately slaughtering suspects. If that wasn’t nerve-wracking enough, they’re mid-flight on a plane full of innocent and unsuspecting people.

Marvel's New Carnage Is Already Too Creepy (And Here's Why)
In the aftermath of Venom War, the new sinister version of Carnage is already creeping up to terrorize the Marvel Universe with an all-new host.
Though both Eddie and Carnage are still getting accustomed to their new bond, Eddie Brock: Carnage #1 is just the first step toward what could be true rehabilitation for the sinister symbiote. Carnage never really had a chance to become a hero, with the heinous killer Cletus Kasady as its first host since birth and being shaped by his influence. A host with heroic tendencies could actually change the symbiote’s ways. However, the supposed superhero transformation will be an uphill battle for Eddie, as Carnage is still egging him on to get it over with and “kill someone right now”.

Carnage Becomes The Most Lethal Protector, While Eddie Plays Detective
Carnage is still in the early stages of truly earning superhero status, and the scary symbiote is definitely going to cause trouble for Eddie Brock as he becomes its host yet again in 2025. Their new arrangement of tracking down bad guys could officially help Carnage see the light, but for now, the symbiote is really only in it for the bloody terror he’s allowed to inflict once Brock finally allows it. Eddie Brock: Carnage #1 already introduces a compelling mystery thriller, with serious suspense for both halves of its titular superhero in their new adventures as a team.
As the diabolical symbiote goads the former Venom host to let them eat a serial killer, Carnage becomes the Marvel Universe’s most twisted new superhero.
The new series offers the perfect set-up for Eddie to use his investigative skills as a journalist, but he’ll have an alien devil sitting on his shoulder and encouraging his most bloodthirsty urges. However, if his stint as Venom proves anything about his ability to influence symbiotes, Eddie might be able to help Carnage focus their bloodlust on bad guys. As the diabolical symbiote goads the former Venom host to let them eat a serial killer, Carnage becomes the Marvel Universe’s most twisted new superhero.
Eddie Brock: Carnage #1 will be available February 12, 2025 from Marvel Comics.
