Warning! Spoilers for Captain Marvel #32 by Marvel Comics below

As part of The Last of the Marvels arc, Marvel Comics, Carol Danvers is attacked by the suit created by the villainous Vox Supreme that took control of her earlier in the series. But, with Vox Supreme seemingly out of the picture, who is controlling the suit, and who's the person underneath it?

During the Last Avenger arc at Marvel Comics, Vox Supreme - a Super-Inhuman who was merged with a part of the original Supreme Intelligence - sought out the powers of the Avengers. To accomplish their task, Vox Supreme planted bombs across Kree Refugee camps on Earth and told Captain Marvel they would go off if she didn't help kill the Avengers. Vox Supreme gave Carol a dark suit which allowed them to keep tabs on her whereabouts. The arc concluded when Carol found a way to clone the Avengers, trick Vox Supreme with fake bodies, and eventually take them down and destroy the suit. But the suit isn't done with Captain Marvel just yet.

In a new preview for Captain Marvel #32 by Kelly Thompson and Sergio Davila, Carol Danvers enjoys flying through the sky, a refreshingly low-key moment after dealing with Ove and reuniting with her boyfriend, James Rhodes. However, after joking that nobody is shooting anything at her, Captain Marvel is hit with a powerful blast of energy. The attack sends her spiraling to the ground.

Looking up to the sky, Carol Danvers sees an unwelcome sight: someone wearing the old suit Vox Supreme once forced upon her.

Carol notices the person in the suit is trying to talk to her but that the suit prevents her from doing so. After wondering if it's Vox Supreme pulling the strings behind the attack, Carol goes on the offensive.

It's not entirely clear who is wearing the suit, but considering The Last of the Marvels storyline has teased the return of the original Captain Marvel, there's a solid chance there's a  familiar face behind the suit. Captain Marvel #31 teased the person behind the costume as potentially controlling the Sludge that attacked her while also having a mysterious connection to Mar-Vell. So, it sure seems someone has a serious bone to pick with Carol Danvers. Captain Marvel will take on the person wearing her darkest suit and learn more about who's behind the attack when Captain Marvel #32 comes to comic book stores on Wednesday.
