You might think that fight and kill her fellow Avengers by a powerful and poisonous Kree, Carol is finally done with deception -- and is taking the fight to them with Captain America's shield in her hand... along with several other Avengers upgrades.

The scene has arrived in Marvel's official preview of Captain Marvel #16, the closing chapter of Kelly Thompson and Lee Garbett's "The Last Avenger" storyline. A tale that started with suspicion, but became clear when Carol informed her friends of the truth: she had already been caught by Vox Supreme, a mutated Kree who wiped out the Inhumans. Using her sentient pocket dimension Singularity to confer with her Avengers teammates in secret, Carol hatched a plan to deliver clones of her prey, along with their uniforms and weaponry. Now she is being forced to act, apparently channeling the final battle of Avengers; Endgame by wielding iconic Marvel weaponry in one last gasp.

The previous issue concluded with Carol strapped to a machine that Vox Supreme claimed would use her to harness "the powers of all the Avengers." The end goal is the creation of a new master race, but the cover art for Captain Marvel #16 alone tipped fans off to the fact that Vox Supreme's plan might end up backfiring. The artwork from Mark Brooks depicts Carol with the spoils of her battles against Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Panther, and She-Hulk. Wielding Mjolnir in one hand (confirming she's worthy, for anyone who might have doubts). But more importantly, using Captain America's signature shield as her own in the official preview. The shield is expected to be but an appetizer for the battle to come, since this is the final chapter of Carol's war against Vox Supreme (leaving her with all the free time needed to become the new Supreme Acc for Emperor Hulkling). To see the fight, and how Carol wields her Avengers' gear, fans will just have to pick up the issue for themselves. Until then, you can find the full solicitation details and plot synopsis below:
